Fins to honor 09 Gators title team?

In Ross' infinite wisdom of packing a stadium for ticket sales by drawing UF fans to the stadium to honor Tebow (because that's really what this is), he fails to realize those same fans will root for the Broncos because that's the team Tebow is on and he's the biggest draw. I've never seen a player with a bigger following despite having done absolutely nothing in the NFL. Anyway this will be a home game of sorts for the Broncos thanks to Ross' shortsightedness.

im a gator fan and i really dont get this whole idea. seems pretty lame to me. one day, i hope that the front office understands that a winning football team puts butts in the seats ,not smoke and mirrors.

BTW, not all gator fans are sub-human or domestic terroists. not the best time for canes fans to be slingin' mud. :D

Nothing personal but we still haven't gotten over the "Gator flop"

And the strippers review at half time WILL put butts in the seats.

While in the mode for ticking off fan bases why don't the Dolphins go for the gusto and tick off the whole state of Florida by honoring the Georgia Bulldogs? I will get my travel plans in quick order for that one.

This.

People just don't get it man. And the people that don't get it....don't get that they don't get it. You're goon to honor a chief in-state rival in the same stadium you lease to the local hometown favorite. Complete slap in the face. I know a lot of people on the board don't care about the 'Canes and that's fine. No big deal. But the Dolphins already struggle to sell tickets. Now you're rubbing this Gator **** in the faces of a lot of Dolphin fans who love the 'Canes just as much. A lot of 'Cane fans will boycott this game. My ticket is up for sale. No interest in that crap.

You want to honor a team, honor your LOCAL 2001 Miami Hurricanes team. It's the 10 year anniversary of the greatest college football team in the history of ever. Honor you LOCAL 1991 Miami Hurricanes. It's their 20th anniversary. You'll sell more seats that way.

Need I remind many of you that this is a BUSINESS first.
:sidelol: This is great. You may have a buyer, sir.

Lol okay let me figure this out...

The Dolphins struggle to sell out games because Miami fans are some of the worst (in terms of going to games) in the NFL.

Hurricanes games very rarely sell out, and when they do it's because opposing fans typically buy up the tickets and outnumber the Canes fans by a large margin.

Yet you guys are saying that this move will HURT the Dolphins because those LOYAL Hurricanes fans who are also LOYAL Dolphins fans will just give up their tickets? That's ridiculous to me. It truly is.

Almost as ridiculous as the Miami goddamn Dolphins celebrating the National Championship Gators from 2008. What in the **** are they doing? So confusing. But if you let this dictate whether you're going to the game or not you need a serious reality check.

I say this as an FSU grad who goes to 3 Miami games a season because I currently live in Jacksonville, or else I'd have Dolphins season tickets.

On second thought I am actually looking forward to the Gator thing.

You think our fans booing Henne was bad?

Wait till ESPN shows the introduction of this group. The WHOLE stadium full of Canes fans will be booing Meyer and Tebow ( Pouncy will get a break)

I'll bet coach Golden has the whole team there and a CANES rally breaks out.

You think Jacksonville or Tampa Bay would honor the CANES ?

Honor the last UM champions when AJ and Houston come to town.

After all it IS our home field.

Yes please demonstrate to the rest of the sports world just how classy Miami fans are...Give me a break!

Any "rivalry" in sports is fictitious, arbitrary, & to be quite honest, moronic. & anyone seriously caught up in any of them is even more moronic. Jets/Dolphins included.

Nope. A decade of boring irrelevance and Dolphins attendance is still nowhere near the worst. Also, UM is a private school with a stadium that is an hour off campus and has a student body that is a fraction of other top 25 teams. Even with those factors and that they've been a terrible team the last few years, their attendance always ranks in the top half of Division I. They pull in 5 times their student body. UF and FSU have triple the students, close proximity to their stadiums, and no competing entertainment. It's sort of hilarious to see someone living in Jacksonville insult Miami for not supporting their teams..

This is the game I picked to come down for this year- and I'm attending it with my cousin-in-law, who is a huge 'Canes fan. Should be fun.

Dee said he reached out in July to Miami officials about a 10-year reunion to celebrate the title the Hurricanes won at the stadium 2001, and they declined. -SKOLNICK

Dumb idea for a Gator Day in Miami, yes. But no college program is anything like terrorism. Come on now.
