Nope. A decade of boring irrelevance and Dolphins attendance is still nowhere near the worst. Also, UM is a private school with a stadium that is an hour off campus and has a student body that is a fraction of other top 25 teams. Even with those factors and that they've been a terrible team the last few years, their attendance always ranks in the top half of Division I. They pull in 5 times their student body. UF and FSU have triple the students, close proximity to their stadiums, and no competing entertainment. It's sort of hilarious to see someone living in Jacksonville insult Miami for not supporting their teams..
I'm originally from South Florida, I moved up here for work. Now, this may be a foreign concept to you, but work is what you do when you want to get out of a ****ty area and make money in order to sustain a better being for yourself and loved ones. I plan on moving back to Jupiter when I can, but for the time being, there aren't many corporate attorney gigs down there so I have to make do :)
Dolphins attendance is still nowhere near the worst? Where are you getting that, because we are ranked 16th in the NFL in attendance, both in numbers and % of stadium seated per game? There are hidden numbers you have to look into... including the stupid crap you just spouted about Jacksonville (assuming about the Jaguars)
Did you know that Jacksonville sold out more games than Miami last season? Did you know that Miami has some of the cheapest tickets in the nfl in terms of features games? Did you know that within their own territory, Jacksonville has more televisions tuned to the jaguars game per household than all but TWO NFL teams? (Green Bay and New England). That's pretty damn good for a team with the label of having ****ty attendance.
There's a reason the ONE time Miami made the playoffs in the last SEVEN years, we still weren't sold out. I'm not blaming Miami for having bad attendance - they are a private school. That's true. No question about it. But you can't have your cake and eat it too. One moment, you're blabbing about how the Canes' faithful are going to come out in ferocious numbers and boo the Gators in that stadium, then the next you're trying to explain why they are one of the worst teams in home field attendance. But wait, tell me again that it's because people in Miami have better things to do than support their university?
But continue spouting ignorant bull****, it reminds me of home! I love the Dolphins with all my heart, I had someone I consider family PLAY for the Dolphins for multiple years, and I'm real enough to know that attendance for the Dolphins somewhat sucks, because we have a pretty bandwagon fanbase. Is it because there is so much to do in Miami? Perhaps, I like to think that's a reason, but I think a larger reason are the transplants. That doesn't explain the bandwagon U guys that spout off (ignorant) nonsense for the most part, all while never even being a part of the university. Hell, I did a year at University of Miami Law School... I have more of a connection to the school than a large majority of the U fans on this board and in person, but even I don't make up ridiculous excuses for them.
