Well I am sure this will upset some people more then they already are and convince others that Beck was wanted even more then they thought.

Miami's management told Beck that the Dolphins' general manager tried frantically to join in the trade business in the first round, where nine teams traded picks. They phoned around the league, begging for a higher pick so they could take Beck before No. 40. Nobody wanted to play.
"About the mid-first round, I was texted by Miami and I found out later the Dolphins had tried three times to trade up to get me," he said.

guess they didnt have to we got him anyways lol; it is what it is the kid has good talent so maybe just maybe we can look about how good of a draft besides of how stupid we look.

I just can't believe how we could have possibly been so high on the guy. I keep reading that we were "lucky Beck was there for us at 40." C'mon guys. Were people seriously fretting that someone would take Beck before forty...yet alone the first round? If we had traded up to get Beck, this would have been the worst draft ever. I'm OK with taking him at 40, but that is a reach already.

And I've seen a lot of people saying that we didn't want to draft a QB at nine because it would be putting too much pressure on him to follow Marino. Yet by passing on Quinn, we just put a ton of pressure on Beck to be successful. The two will forever be linked and compared, and everyone is now expecting Beck to be the next Steve Young. You're telling me thats not pressure?

Wow could you imagine the outrage if we would have done that? Would have been unbearable.

I have calmed down on passing on Quinn at 10

HOWEVER

If we passed on him at 10, and then traded up back into the first I would have exploded thinking it would have been for Ginn.. Could you imagine the backlash if Quinn is still on the board and we took Beck instead..

There would have been no way to explain that one, and man I would have been irate

It would actually be pretty simple to explain, Cam and Randy like Beck more than Quinn. I tell you what, Beck breezed through his interview, and I'm starting to get excited about him. I wanted Quinn really bad, but there is definitely something special about Beck.

Beck at #40 wasn't a reach...

Matt Moseley on ESPN said in his blog that the Cowboys really wanted to grab Beck and were disappointed that he was gone. Moseley used to work for the Cowboys and he actually saw their draft board so he knows.

Some more info on what they were offering. If this had happened I think the fans would have burned down the bubble.

Mueller began talking with Chicago (31st pick) and Oakland (33rd pick) to trade up. He offered a switch of picks for the Dolphins' 40th overall pick and combinations that involved third- or fourth-round picks. He thought he had a deal. Then he didn't. Then came word Detroit had traded to the 43rd spot.
