Nice research! We just need to win more games than last year, thats all i have to say

So far it looks like thsi will be a learning seaosn. Lets hope were all quick studies...

Unfortunately, we will most likely not snap our franchise record playoff drought this year-- five seasons and counting (six seasons since we actually won a playoff game).

This is why it is so frustrating at times being a Dolphin's fan. They have the best overall winning percentage in NFL history but nothing to show for it the last 33+ years. I do hope we can keep our winning percentage at the top, and not have back to back losing seasons.

In addition, they are the only franchise in the major pro sports that has played the last 35 years without 2 consecutive losing seasons.

Here are the season-by-season W-L records:

I'm not disagreeing but did you check every teams (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL) records to verify this or did you get the info somewhere?

I can't see that stat on the link you sent

And do you mean this only includes teams that have played for "at least" 35 years?

It's common knowledge that the Dolphins are the winningest franchise in the NFL.
The Raiders are second and not long the Raiders did a promo saying that they were the winningest franchise, but in small print it said since a certain year. What they did was eliminate the first few years of their existence thereby greatly enhancing their percentage of wins.

They LIED!

Gotta really hate the Raiders for this.

Oh I agree with the first part of the original post (excluding the Detroit Wolverines who only played one nfl season in 1928 with a winning % of .778)

It's the two losing seasons in a row thing I'm trying to figure out

1928
The Detroit Wolverines are granted an NFL franchise but play only the 1928 season (the Wolverines have the best lifetime winning percentage (.778) of any franchise in NFL history)

The Raiders have fallen off...since their last SB in the early 2000's their winning percentage has been horrible. I will always hate the Raiders for the way they beat us in the 1974 playoffs where Stabler threw a hail mary that somehow was caught. That ended what could have been three straight SB victories. We actually could have won 4 straight had we beaten the Cowboys in the '71 SB....woulda/coulda/shouldas. I also blame the WFL for taking away our best players...there maybe never would have been a Steeler's dynasty had the Phins stayed together. :(

I heard that stat somewhere (can't remember where, but I think it was the radio) but checked the records of any NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams I thought might make it not true. I did not need to check the records of cetain teams (such as the Jets, Bills and Pats) because I know they've had many instances of losing consecutive losing seasons. The one NFL team that came close was the Steelers. I'm not perfect, but I'm 99.99% confident that no one can name any team acheived this feat and been playing since 1970.
