hey i have started this thread so that people can talk about what they expect from the upcoming game. i saw the bengals/jets game and cincy's defence looked shabby and disorganised. curtis martin had an outstanding game and the jets offensive line is only a couple of notches better than ours, so i expect a good running attack for the phins this week (especially if gordon can learn the playbook and fit into the system quickly). Their secondary is also shallow so i expect marty and cc to get open a lot, meaning our passing game falls on the shoulders of our line (to protect feeley and jolt justin smith) and of course a.j. from what i have seen and heard a.j has good touch on the deep ball so i think we can expect to see an effective long passing game, providing wanny listens to cc's advice and calls the big plays. as for the other side of the ball carson palmer was pretty good for cincy against the jet's d but don't expect him to find it easy against the phins. he may also struggle playing under the pressure of primetime. i'll say 2-3 picks for us if we are aware. i think a lot of their ability to score points relies on the battle between our db's and their wide receivers. personally i think we have the edge in that regard but we'll see. finally i think if last week is anything to go by then they should have a good rushing attack. their o-line is quite a bit above average meaning the inclusion/exclusion of tim bowens will play a big part in being able to stuff the run. my final judgment... the phins over the bengals 21-17

by last week i mean our poor attempts to stop the run against the titans

Our defense usually shows up big time on sunday night games. The few that come to mind are shutting out Baltimore the year they won the superbowl and last year against buffalo. Also the game against Tennessee where Madison had 3 its. Hopefully the D can carry the team with the new running game and deep passing game to complement. I for one am looking forward to a great game next weeked.

WIn or lose, all I want is for the O to show improvement and prove all they really needed was some practice together.

I am really looking forward to this weeks game, to the point that we are discussing going to Cincinatti to see it there. I believe there should be at least ONE Zack jersey in the stands!!! :D

If we get a little BOLD, and run some DEEP patterns early on, we might axctually open the field up, and take the heat OFF our line for a change.

Fins CAN win this game, with some decent coaching, and some discipline on the field...:fire:

Good point. Discipline = NO MORE DUMB PENALTIES

Of course, the extra practice time with AJ should heal some of that.

Their run D was pretty awful but Curtis looks better than he has since '01 and the OL is very good w/ the addition of kendall(a HUGE difference from last year). Chad carved up that D, if not for a few drops the score wouldn't even have been close. You guys don't have the O we have but you should be able to score some points. The interesting matchup will be their O vs. your D, they have some explosive players on O but they are going against a better D in Week 2. I look for a 20-13 type game where either team can win but I'll go w/ the home team.

Palmer looks great, and he should have won yesterdays game. They'll be that much better next week. I don't think we'll take them!

Spot on Junc. I think the Bengals win though, only because they have the big play ability. This will be a good chance to get Minor carries that will build confidence, the Bengals run D seemed no existent. Not to take anything away from Curtis though, the man was possesed and on a mission.

Should be a good matchup though, I think the Bengals will have to win the game through the air. Palmer vs. Phin secondary is the matchup to watch. If Feeley can exploit that rook in the Bengals secondary like Chad did though, the Phins have a good chance.

17-10 Bengals

He looked good, but we outplayed them plain and simple. Take away that gimme at the beginning and the game was a rout. Also Moss seemed rusty, dropping balls that he would normally catch. He saw very little action in the preseason.

Palmer looked good yesterday, but did so against a poor defense. I'm interested to see what he'll do against a team that can force some bad decisions, in his second start.

I also think our run defense will be a lot better with Bowens healthy and Robinson and Ahanotu more integrated to the system. And I'd be very surprised if Wanny isn't stressing discipline all week long. Look for fewer penalties...but also a more conservative game plan, which may not be a good thing.

Phins, 17-14.

going into this week, we'll have feely getting 1st team reps in practice and gordon having the same, which i tihnk will help them to succeed... gordon did pretty damn well for being on the team 4 days and playing msot of it i think... now he'll have time to learn the rest of the playbook and practicing with that first team i see him with a 100 yd performance or close to it...

as for the passing game i think if they stretch the field they will be successful, especially if gordon is carrying well and they get the play action working...

the bengals O looked pretty good, their run game was kinda weak though except for a few decent gaines... i feel we'll shut that aspect down, and i think us putting good pressure on palmer will lead to a few TOs...

i see us winning this game in a big confidence booster for us, we HAVE to win this game with the changes we made to solidify them for the rest of the season, i mean who knows what might happen if feely has a bad game, i dont even wanna think about that...

Something tells me that if Feeley is in, we will end up throwing the ball further down the field. The conservative gameplan has something to do with Jay not being able to chuck it downfield imo. Martin went off on the Bengals for close to 200 yards. I would expect us o at least get 100 yards team rushing, if not more. McMichael may end up being a key again. If Cincy keys in on Chambers and Boston, Feeley will just end up throwing the ball to Randy every time until they stop it.

Defensively, I like the matchup. Palmer is young and only going into his second game. The Jets secondary is far more inferior to ours and I expect Madison and Surain to do a bang up job on their receivers. My main concern is Rudi Johnson and the running game. If they establish that early, we may see a repeat of Tennesee where they may not need to pass a whole lot to be effective.

I feel better about this game than I did the opener, maybe it is the QB change, maybe it is the opposition, I don't know, but something tells me we win this one.

I agree with what Samphin said, we have got to start throwing the ball down the field and stretch it more. teams are playing us to close to the line of scrimmage knowing we dont attempt many downfield long passes. We have to have that threat, and I hope to goodness since Feeley is starting they start doing it.
