Finsiders: Tannehill's deep ball and other notes

He does have the ability which he showed again vs TB to get behind the DB's. We can work with that. I'd chuck three or four long every game and hope he catch a couple of them for big plays. if we need a critical first down i think i'd try to go to someone else.

Nothing to Wallace.. What this report tells me is Tannehill is starting to feel that Wallace is will drop just about all his passes and isn't going to him

Kinda hard to trust a guy that gets knocked off his premium route by a fart.

Still, I think Wallace will thrive this year with slants and screens...and the occasional deep ball. Should be enough to really help.
 
Hopefully he wont ignore Wallace completely remember diva Wallace last year?
 
Damian Williams became a fan favorite at USC because of how dependable he was. Surprisingly effective on the deep ball. I hope we give him the opportunity in the final preseason games. He doesn't have much of Wallace's speed but in terms of adjustment and instincts he's far above Wallace.

I'm a bit surprised that Williams hasn't been more productive in the NFL. He was a heavily recruited kid who ended up at Arkansas when his high school coach Malzahn joined as assistant. But early season in Malzahn's first year the offense was too finesse oriented and was punished, including by USC. When Arkansas overreacted and turned to a more standard offense, Williams was frustrated along with Mitch Mustain and other recruits who had followed Malzahn to Arkansas. Mustain and Williams ended up transferring to USC. Mustain barely played at USC but Williams steadily outshone the premier recruits who were playing wide receiver for USC in that era.

Williams caught passes from Mark for one season and from Matt Barkley the next. Not many transfers have become as popular with the Trojan fan base as Williams was.

True but if he's hitting deep balls and has that QBR, as long as the defense doesn't totally suck, we would have nice leads. At least 2 score leads
