FIRELAND: Fan flies banner calling for Jeff Ireland's firing

Crowd actually isn't as bad as I thought. Kudos to them for coming to the game.

It was weird that it looked so much fuller late in the 4th quarter than it did at the start, somebody was saying earlier in the year they are having a hard time letting people through the gates in a timely fashion. If true and thousands of people are missing a good chunk of the game waiting in line its not going to help with future ticket sales to say the least.

The fan who can afford it should fly the "screw goodell" banner next. He is deserving .

So we complain about how the media portrays Miami teams and its fans, then we do this crap.

Brilliant. BTW, while this guy was busy wasting money crying that we're not winning in a satisfactory way for him, we're in a good spot for a wildcard run.

No one seems very well-informed about this, and I saw it happen in real time; so I'll tell you what I know.

The guy who conceived this is a Miami Dolphins fan. He's much like you and me; although I suspect he's more like me than most of you, judging by your posts. He's a good fan who loves this team. He's passionate; he's ALL about the Dolphins. But he's been frustrated for the last few years by the direction of the team he loves.

He's been frustrated by being ahead of the curve; by seeing what it has taken others until now to see, when all the damage is done. Frustrated by being vilified by people who are supposed to be his fellow fans—brothers for knowing far longer than most that this franchise was in serious trouble, and that the cause was a GM who couldn't find any NFL star-caliber players other than on the defensive line.

Although we fans pay 100% of the revenues of these NFL teams, we are powerless in terms of affecting anything at all with regard to how our beloved team is run. So this guy did something; the one thing fans can still do: express an opinion. He arranged to do it in a very public way.

As to the details; the cost of displaying the banner was $985. It's important to note that 20+ people donated to this.

But here's the most interesting part: from the moment when this guy conceived the idea, to when he opened the donation account, to the last donation and contracting the plane company, little more than 45 minutes elapsed. That's right—it took just over 20 people about a half hour to donate enough to get this thing in the air. Twenty of your fellow fans.

If that doesn't tell you something about the general frustration of the fanbase and their willingness to put their money where their mouths are, then nothing will.

I've been to over 15 games in Miami and I've never had an issue at the front gates. I always try to get there 30-45 mins before game time. Maybe the ones having trouble are there at 12:55 p.m. and looking to rush in?

Pouncey was going to have a banner flown that said 'Free Hernandez' but he couldn't extort the money to pay for it from the rookies with Richie being suspended.

After 13 years of ****y teams I'm surprised it took that long to raise the money.

Just wondering how many vulnerable animals in local kill shelters could be rescued for what the plane and banner cost :idk:

Football itself is a complete waste of time and money if you want to start playing that game.

Took my son and my nephews to their first Dolphin game yesterday....and I have to say the energy was FAR greater than what I would have expected. Even my sister came who is not nearly the fan we are and she was screaming and cheering due in no small part to the fans.
People were very positive and hyped on every 3rd down and it did not in any way feel like a game that didn't matter to everyone. It was an amazing day, not just because we won, but because it renewed my faith in the fans of my team. Thanks to everyone in section 437 and surrounding....made it a very memorable day for my family!! And me...

ps... I never even saw this banner but due to the aforementioned, it wouldn't have mattered.

you are being bullied by DirecTV if you actually paid full price for Sunday Ticket

I'm one of 'em

I am too. Been paying for satellite feed since I had an analog dish. My question is how do you not pay full price?
If you want to watch every Dolphin game in my area, you must have Sunday Ticket.

If I was a Carolina fan, I would not need the service.
