Firing Sherman anaolgy

I will not attend a dolphins game EVER from here on out tell serious change has been made

So tired of this owner

I made that decision last year, in fact I refuse to purchase any merchandise as well. Not one dime of my money will go to this team until things change, and while I know it ain't hurting Ross's bottom line it makes me happy that I'm not wasting hard earned money on somebody who won't do what is necessary

Sherman didn't do anything to try to mask the problems. He kept running it up the gut on first down. Always leaving us in 2nd and long situations. He never used hurry up offense even though it was usually successful. He never called rollouts even though tannehill was getting hammered in the pocket and is one of the best qbs on the league at throwing on that run. He didn't use any creative plays to get our playmakers the ball. He refused to use the qb sneak even when our run game always got stuffed in short yardage situations. I could go on but its pointless. What's done is done.

I will:

A 5 route passing tree
Poor Route combinations
Seldom used motion
Extremely limited formations
Go, go go
Wallace always on the right, Hartline always to the left.
Daniel Thomas running the ball
Severely underdeveloped screen game
Too many shotgun runs
Slow developing stretch runs from the I formation
Running the ball after every 1st down incompletion
Abandoning the run at half when it was working

Anyone else want to continue? There's more but I thought it'd be nice to share in the good riddance of painful memories.

Firing Sherman is like firing Dan Henning and keeping Henne as your QB.

Yes, same cut. It's the first action taken when early indications are it's not working. We kept Sparano and Henne. Now we're keeping Philbin and Tannehill. Next stage, you know what happens.

I actually thought Henning had crap to work with, though. Sherman could have done more with the players he had, and I don't think he properly developed Tannehill. As a coach, would you prefer trying to develop develop Tannehill/Wallace or Henne/Ginn?

FYI These are the starting players under both OC's in their second year.

Henning
QB Chad Henne
QB Pat White
RB Ricky Williams not in his prime
WR Ted Ginn
WR Davone Bess
WR Brian Hartline
WR Greg Camarillo
TE Anthony Fasano
TE Joey Hanos

Sherman
QB Ryan Tannehill
QB Matt Moore
RB Lamar Miller (Reggie Bush previously)
WR Mike Wallace
WR Brian Hartline
WR Brandon Gibson (injured)
WR Rishard Matthews
TE Charles Clay
TE Dustin Keller (injured)
TE Dion Sims

Exactloy right.

Which is why this firing is a curious thing. Can't all involved see the narrative here?

This must lead to something larger.

It also makes me wonder of the relationships in the building if Philbin didn't want to make the fire.

He can't possibly think that Sherman was worthy of retaining his services.

If so, is there tension now between him and Ross?

So having all but one of your linemen rated in the bottom 10% of the league is not an issue at all? Riiiiigggggght.

Nope not an issue at all nor was setting dolphin record for sacks given or Taking over a defense ranked 3rd in the league versus the run and turning them into the 24th ranked versus the run.
I mean if you are holding anyone accountable how are these other two any worse than Sherman or worse than the builder of is team. Hell what about the coach that hired these people.

While we have bigger issues than OC, I am happy we got rid of Sherman. My take here:

- Philbin would have never fired him as they are buddies. He would never have done what Harbaugh did to Cam Cameron (his mentor and buddy) last year - doing what it took to get better and ultimately win a SB. Sorry, I just don't see Joe doing this without Ross making him. So I look at this as a positive.

- Tannehill has been w Sherman too long. Kids need different coaches to develop and learn other perspectives on how to do things. This will be good for RT.

- Sherman looked like a guy who was somewhat checked out - enjoying the FL sunshine but not working that hard. Just my take but how else to you explain the lack of creativity, etc put into his game plans? Also, I hate coordinators that sit up in the booth. Can we get someone that stands on the sideline and has a better feel for the game / interacts with the players?

Finally, more changes are needed or this is just a half-measure, Ross saying, "see - we really shook things up!". Ireland needs to go next. Philbin - I could live with one more year.
