This is situation is so eerily similar to when Sparano was wavering on benching Henne for Pennington. When he finally did, Pennington tore his knee in 2 snaps.

Nothing good will come of this. As far as I am concerned, both Philbin and Tannehill are dead men walking at this point...

Positive statements don't help though. He said the last couple weeks that he has to get better.
He really should have not said anything. This whole 'distraction brought in from the outside' bugs the hell out of me. Those are adult men playing a hard hitting game and they get distracted by some comments from the outside? Are we in elementary school?

And if he makes public statements at least slam the door shut for further 'distractions' which can hurt the players feelings. Instead he opens the door again by saying to ask Philbin for the reasons. What do you think the media is going to do?
