First day pressers with Ryan , Martin and the coach.

Man I'm still stoked about Martin being our RT.

So much better knowing our QB isn't facing a potential broken back every play now Dumbo is gone.

Interesting in particular to watch the two receivers. They both seem like high character guys, which is particularly important in Matthews' case since I've seen scouting reports on him where they mention him falling down boards because of character concerns. I like to see a reporter follow up on that because it doesn't show in the interview. The guy sat up straight, gave thoughtful answers, was engaged and seems intelligent. Cunningham came off more technically knowledgeable, though apparent he was the receiver we read about Tannehill stopping a play to correct when he wasn't sure what he was doing. His body language wasn't as good. Shoulders drooping, came off more overwhelmed.

Either way, I like both of these receivers better than I like Wallace and Marlon Moore. Wallace has all the ability in the world and I've personally been at practice and marveled at his explosion for his size. But at some point you have to cut bait with guys who don't get it. Moore has speed but is awkward, leggy and fights the ball. I've never understood his upside.

One more thing I'd like to add, though it's something easy to read too much into. All three rookies, Martin, Cunningham and Matthews, made a point to say how well Tannehill performed overall. And not something forced, as if they're trying to get in his good graces or be good soldiers (which is so often how positive comments about Henne came off). Surely Tannehill's experience in the offense helps him be confident in this kind of setting, but it's always nice to hear your quarterback get good marks for leadership from the get go. It's another thing to get that respect from the veterans but deference to a certain person has a way of moving through any group.

Marlon Moore was on there also. I had forgotten he played in a WCO in college so he knows the plays. I think a few of these guys like him or Gates might surprise this year.
Coach sounded like a head coach. Doesn't seem over his head like you know who.

I like Mathews already making plays on his first day. I hope Wallace can put it all together this year cause he has all the physical tools to be good.

Coach sounded like a head coach. Doesn't seem over his head like you know who.[/QUOTE] As i was watching his press conference he did seem a lot different than Sparano. I am not knocking Sparano cause personally i liked him but Philbin just seemed like he was more of a head coach. I hope it all works out for us. As Dolphin fans we need some good years. I also love the fact that Tannehill was coaching on the field. That is what a QB and a leader does.

Wallace and Moore spent their first summer trying to catch coaches eye to just make the team. Year two was where they were to relax, learn and improve. However they lost that due to the lock out. Be patient with young players. They need time guys.

You can only give guys like Wallace and Moore so many chances. By the end of this training camp they'll have had as many years on the team as Patrick Turner, Pat White and John Beck, with little more than those guys to show for it. Ted Ginn was shown the door after three seasons and he actually won games for us in between moments that will go down in utter and stupefying infamy.

One of Bill Parcells' better known and truer sayings is that "if they don't bite as pups, they won't bite," referring to players showing true talent. Regardless of who's behind them, Wallace and Moore are going to need to rip a few heads off if they want to stick around. I doubt they make it.

Matthews and BJ have totally different personalities, but you can see that they're both hungry.

Well spoken as well. I love these picks.

I got a feeling we'll be talking about this draft for years.

To be fair though, when did they ever get more than the random uncatchable ball thrown to them?

I seriously don't know how Matthews fell to the 7th. Great physical talent, productive, very likable when you hear him talk. Have high hopes for him.

Why again were there people comparing Tannehill to Henne? Henne never looked excited about ANYTHING. Look at Ryan as he is talking... he has that little glow and smirk. He is holding it back but seems like he is ridiculously excited to be an NFL QB and I'm sure that is going to rub off on the other guys(Newton seemed this way as well). Hopefully he lets that personality come out and stay out as I would love to have a Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers type of personality at the QB position and make the franchise interesting again.

^^ Alot of people who follow the draft and follow college football , more than 99% of the members on finheaven do, thought Matthews would go somewhere in the 4th round (and thats only one site out of a bunch of sites that thought so about Matthews).

When I studied their strengths and weaknesses right after the draft I must say that I like Rishard Matthews alot more than BJ Cunningham. I think Matthews was just as much a steal where he was drafted as Lamar Miller was

.

CK said the same thing in his Fin's draft breakdown.

I say everyone starts from scratch and may the best recievers play. Bess and Hartline have the most experience but that is no garrentee they'll be the starters.Time to step up guys.
