First Interview for GM Friday

I don't think they will hire Gaine, but I wouldn't be upset. FWIW, Joe Rose, who absolutely ripped Ireland up and down the board, likes him a lot.

I would prefer to see someone brought in from outside, though.

Joe Rose like Gaine cause he has a personality.

Philbin likes him, too. If you remember on Hard Knocks, they showed him a few times working with individual players on the side. He's got people skills. He's a step up in that regard, at least. One of Jeff's big problems is that he had absolutely zero people skills whatsoever.

Maybe they'll get the Rooney Rule candidate out of the way first. I swear, if I was black, I would take offense to that rule.

The Rooney Rule got a lot of black coaches an opportunity to at least be "considered". I always say, once you get your foot in the door, you never know what can happen. Isn't that how Tomlin got his gig?

I was listening to moving the changes and they were saying that having Aponte to take care of the cap and deals might be something a potential GM would like. They said that the GM would only have to worry about free agency, dfts and evaluating coaches and not having to deal with the other stuff would be awesome. It kind of makes sense I guess. They also said that they would not have t worr about Aponte acting as if she knows so much about which players to bring in and stuff like that. I was driving so that's about what I got from what they were talking about. Just wanted to pass it to you guys. Sorry if anyone already did.

Ozzy rules!!

Couldn't it also mean that Aponte or Philbin will be heavily involved and possibly have final say so? It could mean a lot of things none of which any of us know yet...

Not necessarily. It could simply mean that Philbin will focus on coaching the talent the new GM gets us and Aponte will focus on keeping everyone under the cap. It's a simple model really called team leadership. No one has authority over the other but together they work to achieve the common goal of winning a super bowl.

I don't wanna hear from Garfunkle unless it's singing the national anthem! Ross is on the move.. first stop better be wherever Gamble is on Friday!

Whenever an opening of ANY kind comes up, the shills start carpet-bombing the Internet with the praises of every conceivable African-American candidate they can. It's as predictable as the sunrise. They start beating the drums for their favorites with every coach or GM opening. They make it sound as if their favorites are the ONLY possible choices and that they cannot POSSIBLY be passed up for any reason, they are so head-and-shoulders above everyone else.

The Rooney rule is just FINE with people like that.

Neither Gaine nor Highsmith will be the next GM. Please save us the propaganda.
