I think our possesion is going to be very important. I really don't want to see on the first play, a simple ronnie run right, or a play the bucs can stuff to easily. A little misdirection or something we can get a good chunk on or a first down right away. Momentum, is going to be very important, right out of the shoot. We are going to need to shut up the crowd fast. In other words, punch em right in the nose as fast as possible.:evil:
 
don't be too greedy. Executing the first play without a damned penalty will be uncharted territory for us... :goof:

God, i hope not, but your right!
 
That was the MO of this team in past years, but not now...look at the Denver game...we had a 3 and out on the first possession...I think we are mentally a much tougher team and a poor first series won't affect us like it has in the past. Under Wanny, you could tell with the first series whether or not the team was ready to play...

Yea, i just didn't want to come out flat as a pancake, like the buffalo game!
 
I expect Linehan to start Ricky as tailback and Ronnie in as fullback and pass a lot in the first series as the Bucs will probably expect us to run with Ricky and Ronnie starting. Then, after a few passes downfield we will begin to establish the run.

I don't think attacking down the field right away, would be such a bad idea!!

That sounds about right.
 
If we can set up the play action, then I think it will be easier on Gus as far as coverage goes. Need to have a good mix of play calling, and not forcing the ball into to certain players. Need to use Diamond at tight end, get the ball to Welker, and just keep them guessing. We have to take what they give us.

Well Saban said they are both starting, so expect them both to be in on 1st play on offense. Of course it won't matter, since we will already have scored a TD on a Welker kickoff/punt return. :D
 
Just a note for our first defensive series...in both losses one of our DL has jumped offsides on the very first play.

Great idea, but you have to keep in mind, they will be blanketing both Chambers, and McMichael from the get go, so that why we must get others in the mix as well.

first offensive play:

ricky and ronnie in the backfield. playaction to ricky. ronnie helps out to block, then screens left. look off ronnie... BigMack up the middle for a 15-18 yrd gain!! :D
