Can't have him taking up valuable cap space. He will probably be forced to retire.

i think we need to see what he can do healthy and rested...

imo--i dont care much, i wanna draft a qb, but im not ready to toss him under the bus...yet

If he cant get healthy, thats fine, but if he does, it would be stupid not to give the guy the chance just cause he is Sabans failure. Actually making him work, would be even better for the new coach, you know working with the same material Saban failed with would look good.

Also its more expensive to cut him, than keep him.

Id like to at least see him play when healthy here... but the big question is will he ever be healthy enough to play again. without his mobility, he isnt much of a qb. While id like to see him play, i also dont want to waste anymore time with this... if theres even the slightest chance he may not be ready, or may not be what we anticipated, or need... we have to cut him loose somehow or another... i dont really know what should be done here... but i dont want to see anymore time wasted with this guy... or with anyone really...

i think we have a healthy amount of cap space with culpepper, why not give the guy a real chance, we did spend a 2nd round pick on him.

:rolleyes2 give the guy a chance to get healthy. Culpepper came here because he wanted too, he wants to win here. You don't just cut a player of his caliber because he's been hurt.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

You have to at least give him training camp + preseason to show what he can do... If it becomes totally obvious that he still isn't recovered from the knee problem, then maybe cutting him becomes the right decision. But it would be a huge, pointless gamble to cut the guy without at least finding out what he's got left. Consider the upside: if he regains his old form, he's a QB that was one Peyton Manning from being league MVP a few years ago.

While we're at it, why not draft a QB in round 2 this year and cut him too?

That way we can foolishly spend three years straight wasting 2nd round picks on passers who don't play for us.

I know stupid idea.

2 years straight spending 2nd rounders on nothing would have more symmetry.

The cap figure is the only thing about Culpepper as it pertains to his injury that concerns me. If something happens to him in practice that is career threatening, then it all may happen anyways, but I do think we should wait before we get hasty on all this. He will have a 9 more months to recover and he is rehabilitating now.
