Of course a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but although too little too late, he did do a great job for us in '11 once he gained some traction and before that, somewhat salvaging Carolina's abysmal 09 season. I for one wanted him to start over rookie Ryan and Garrard going into 2012.
I respect Tannehill and had/have no doubt he'll become our 2nd greatest GOAT QB, but for the time being, I guess it doesn't hurt to try to be optimistic.

STRENGTHS: Moore, 26, is an athletic quarterback with the arm strength to make every NFL throw with good zip. When he strides into his throws, he is an accurate passer—on short, intermediate and deep passes. He throws a good deep ball, showing the ability to drop in a deep touch pass or zip a 25-plus yard throw on a rope. Though his production against the blitz isn’t always good, he doesn’t panic against pressure and force throws into bad spots. He is very willing to throw the ball away. He has a quick, efficient delivery, which helps him get rid of the ball quickly. He has shown a knack for making good 10-plus yard throws in third-and-long situations. He leads receivers effectively, and when his target is well-covered, he does a good job of throwing the ball where only the receiver can make a play on the ball. He stands strong in the pocket, waiting for a chance to make a good throw right before he gets hit.
WEAKNESSES: He struggled with injuries in 2010, including a concussion and a torn labrum in his right shoulder, which required surgery. At times, he does not go through his progressions and keeps his eyes on his primary receiver throughout the play, which allows defenders to break on the ball and make plays. When he gets pressured and can’t stride into throws, his accuracy is affected and he often becomes an arm thrower. He does not consistently identify and react to the blitz well, and his production against the blitz is not as consistent as it needs to be for him to be a successful NFL quarterback. He has never proved himself as a starter for an entire season. He started five games in both 2009 and 2010 and has a career record of 7-6.
BOTTOM LINE: Moore is perhaps the most intriguing QB available this offseason. For a player who was undrafted out of Oregon State and then cut by the Cowboys in 2007, Moore has shown the ability to produce. In 2009, he was 4-1 as a starter and had a passer rating of 98.5. Although Moore battled through injuries last season, he still played well in two games (against the 49ers and Rams). He showed the same passing skills in those games that he had displayed in 2009, when he made a case that he could become a good starting QB. Moore was a restricted free agent last offseason, and with four years of experience, he could be an unrestricted free agent this year. With the unsettled labor situation, however, he may end up as a restricted free agent again. Based on film study, he might be the best of the young quarterbacks available in the 2011 free-agent pool. And if he gets back to his pre-injury form, he can develop into a very good starter in time. Moore was expected to be fully healthy sometime in May, so he should be ready to play for whatever team signs him in 2011.
