I wonder if this one of those wink wink deals, where a player, particularly a veteran has minor injury and the team is like look, we need a roster spot, we don't want to cut anyone, how about we just place you on IR and you just get paid for the rest of the season?

Yes but getting cut in the middle of the season doesn't look good for the player, like hey that vet doesn't have anymore, he just got cut. Eh maybe he just got hurt in practice.

It is worse for most other teams. We are 22 in Cap Amount and Cap % on IR. Look at the Broncos--devastating.
