The Confessor
Doesnt play well with others
I think the only concern I have here is that we haven't exactly busted the door down going after him. They've known at least since Thurs that Manning wasn't in our future (probably should have guessed it even before then) and he is just now getting here ??
The other thing is are we settling for the 'best of the rest' now with Manning gone. Is the luke-warm courting of Flynn a sign that Philbin isn't overly enamored, but he's, again, the best of the rest ?? Let's face it, if we had gotten Manning, Philbin would have been able to argue that he wasn't his first choice, that he had to adjust his system for Manning, etc had Manning bombed on us. Now, his legacy as a HC for Miami will be tied to Flynn... IDK....just sayin'
Like I was discussing with a very very good friend over dinner this last week, it's a serious poker game...and Philbin is holding all the cards.
IF he jumps immediately, other teams know this and it drives the price up (F-in Agents....)
He has to wait patiently and pounce at the right time....or not at all considering.
IF he comes to Miami, it will be very telling in what type of contract the get him. Of course, one person Philbin is playing poker against is Flynn himself...or actually, his agent.
