Flynn is officially in Miami per La Canfora

I think the only concern I have here is that we haven't exactly busted the door down going after him. They've known at least since Thurs that Manning wasn't in our future (probably should have guessed it even before then) and he is just now getting here ??

The other thing is are we settling for the 'best of the rest' now with Manning gone. Is the luke-warm courting of Flynn a sign that Philbin isn't overly enamored, but he's, again, the best of the rest ?? Let's face it, if we had gotten Manning, Philbin would have been able to argue that he wasn't his first choice, that he had to adjust his system for Manning, etc had Manning bombed on us. Now, his legacy as a HC for Miami will be tied to Flynn... IDK....just sayin'

Like I was discussing with a very very good friend over dinner this last week, it's a serious poker game...and Philbin is holding all the cards.

IF he jumps immediately, other teams know this and it drives the price up (F-in Agents....)

He has to wait patiently and pounce at the right time....or not at all considering.

IF he comes to Miami, it will be very telling in what type of contract the get him. Of course, one person Philbin is playing poker against is Flynn himself...or actually, his agent.

Definitely, and issue #1 is going to be tendency to hold onto the football just a little longer than is ideal in this style of WCO.

With the Dolphins' receivers, the other issue will be not having a real deep threat that jives with Flynn. Gates is speedy but Flynn's deep ball isn't built for speed, it's built for guys like James Jones and Jordy Nelson.

yeah...i see what you're saying there...on the holding onto the ball longer than you want at times i think that given flynns only gotten in game week preparation snaps twice in 2 years its to be a little expected that he might be a little late getting the ball out from time to time and that with more snaps thats something i would look for to improve...

i'm guessing on the second part of this guys that get physical and go up and get the ball at its highest point are more in line with flynns deep ball since it has a tendency to hang up in the air and that makes sense to me...gates is more your run under the deep ball mike wallace type in that regard...and its questionable whether flynn has the straight vertical arm to lead guys like gates with that rediculous speed...
