Flynn or Manning...

Manning. Period.

He has a home in Miami, loves Dan Marino...and last but not least...I claim him for the Fins...so there.

You REALLY think we can win a SB with Moore?? NO way.

Thread topic: Manning over Flynn, but the Manning saga will be done with before FA starts so if we miss on him then we can go after Flynn as soon as FA starts.
i hate this argument, because in the past medicore to below mediocre qbs have ''won'' superbowls, and guys like alex ****ing smith who blow was a kyle williams non fumble away from appearing in a superbowl, and who knows what would have happened.

any qb with the right weapons around him can be on a superbowl winning team.

Now the better question is, do you think matt moore can ''carry'' this team to a superbowl on his shoulders, to which the answer is no, but id say the same thing for a guy like flynn also.

so in the end, that is why getting a guy like peyton manning is vital, because he has the ability to win shootouts constantly , as opposed to a guy like moore, who although i like, and would deff take over flynn bc flynn blows, but he would need the right weapons and team around him to get to the big dance.

go get manning, he can carry this team.

I hate this argument b/c you are talking about the EXCEPTION (Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson). Alex smith didnt win a SB or get there so that is null and void. It doesnt apply here. You are talking about 1 specific example about a guy who had agruably the best Defense in the past 25 years in Baltimore and Tampa Bay that year also has a LIGHTS OUT defense. Yes it COULD happen but its the exception not the rule.

When you make an argument you need to speak on the majority not the exception. There are exceptions to every single situation but its not enough to make an argument.

Using your theory we should draft a 6 foot QB b/c Brees is successful. NO Dice!

first of all, u do realize i want peyton manning so im not saying roll with mediocrity, right?

also, aside from the johnson and dilfer, jeff hostetler, doug williams, etc. i understand most of the time you want to win you need a great qb, that is why i want manning and not flynn.

all i was saying is with the right weapons, any qb can be on a superbowl winning team, thats what im saying. the odds are against any team winning the superbowl regardless of who qb is because only 1 will win it each year out of 32.

the difference is a guys like manning, brady, rodgers, etc can overcome bad defensive performances and win shootouts weekly, as opposed to guys like flynn who will need the right guys around him to be succesful. flynn wont make anyone better, his talent around him will be the determination of how well he does.

manning can make a guy like bess and hartline look like pro bowlers.

Manning vs "what's behind curtain #3??????" That's a No ****ing Brainer!

I'd be in for Flynn if Philbin went balls to the wall to sign him. That would be a good sign. However, a limited sampling vs 2 porous dbackfields plugged in to an offensive juggernaut notwithstanding, he still was drafted the equivalent of 1 round better - and from a terrible college QB program, than our own Matt Moore who for the last half of the season was arguably the 2nd best QB in the division. So yes, if we don't get Manning which to me is the compelling choice and Philbin doesn't show more than a token interest in Flynn, I won't fret and will be all for a Moore -Tannehill/Weeden TC competition letting the best man win.

flynn. He's a lot younger and 100% healthy and his OC is now our HC and o yea he kinda broke records last time he played..everyone here is in awe of getting the almighty demigod known as Peyton manning, who will be 36 with a jacked up neck in the hopes of winning a super bowl in the 2 years he'll be here. Newsflash: he won 1 superbowl in his 14 years in Indy when he was young and didnt have multiple neck surgeries. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I log onto finheaven...

I think we go get Manning, as long as he is healthy, and then draft a QB and groom him behind
Manning, whether it is Tannehill or whoever...........

Flynn is a joke with a couple of flukey games. He will never amount to squat in the NFL. Manning is one of the all time greats in football who may still have plenty left in the tank if healthy enough to play. This isn't even debatable.

The argument that Flynn had a couple of "flukey" game is BS. you do relaize that the great Aaron Rodgers sat in GB for 3 years. he had all of ONE start in 3 years. he had combined stats of 35 comp/59 atts with 1 TD and 1 INT. yet GB wasn't afraid to dump Favre and hand the reins to him.

So now Flynn has sat behind Favre/Rodgers for 4 years with a combined 82 out of 132 with 9 TDs and 5 INTs. he has actually provided a better sampling than Rodgers did, though Rodgers came out of college with a better pedigree.

I am just saying, don't knock Flynn based on a "flukey" sampling. you could be tossing away the diamond in the rough thinking it was coal.
