People are so set on us signing a QB, ANY QB, but would signing Matt Flynn REALLY upgrade the QB position? I honestly don't see the big problem with sticking with Moore another year. If we can land Peyton, GREAT, he's an ALL UNIVERSE player and a significant upgrade, but with Flynn, we HOPE he would be. If Philban is OK with not signing him, I am too. Let's just add pieces around Moore and draft a QB.

Funny, I'm ok with Moore too. I actually see him improving with time in ota' s and camp as a starter. The guys got room for improvement and you can see he has the tools. From where we stand right now, he might be the starter going in as we draft a rook. Of course, if we sign Flynn or PM .....

Couldn't agree "moore." I think Flynn is a 7th round quality QB with a very weak arm who hasn't done anything to merit any kind of big contract. I'd rather have Henne and hope for Barkley or whoever next year. I really like Moore and if Marshall hadn't dropped the dozen or so passes he dropped this year, Moore's rating would'be likely been Top 10, not just 12 where he still stood in the top half of the league. Better coaching wins.

i tired of people crying about flynn being drafted in the 7th round then turning around and supporting a guy who didnt even get drafted.

people the reason flynn is attractive to alot of people is because he has looked good in our new system, how he would look in any other system doesnt matter.

carolina tried to give moore the job before, he lloked good in relief the year before, just like now. then he got hurt and didnt play well when he came back. moore is a guy who can help as a backup not a guy who is going to lead you anywhere.

Im on the Moore bandwagon also and in Carolina he never had the support , also he had to keep Steve Smith happy above everything else.

he had a no1 receiver in smith and one of the best running games in the nfl. he just wasnt very good.

I was just about to start this same type of thread...Joe and Mike has obviously digested all of the film and talked about the two..maybe they see moore as better than flynn? I get the feeling that they think extremely high of tannehill also.I wouldnt mind the combo of Moore/tannehill.flynn and manning,no matter how you slice it are huge risks.so that rout seems safer for immediate/long term.

Flip I am with you Moore has something I think if he went in to camp as the starter last year we win 10 games. The bottom line the ownership and the fanbase are not going to give him a shot. I also think Flynn could be great I see him as much better prospect then some of the draft prospects being thrown around because when he has been asked to start he lights it up and that's what winners do. He was a winner in college and spent most of his time behind Jemarcus Russell who got the kind of attention Luck is getting and where is he Canada? I want both of them!

We arent going to the Super Bowl with Flynn or Moore. Stick with Moore and save money. Get a new QB through the draft.

Flynn is ready and I think he would be an upgrade over Moore. I taped his game against the Lions and he ate up their defense. I think people who say you can't base what Flynn will do because he has only started two games haven't really looked at him. He played great for LSU against very tough SEC defenses. I don't know if he will turn into Aaron Rodgers but I would bring him in. We could go with Moore, Flynn, and draft a rookie QB later if need be.

I'm not necessarily on the Moore bandwagon but I am on the don't overpay for Flynn bandwagon and the don't change the QB just to change the QB bandwagon also. When we change QB I want the new guy to without a doubt be better than the old guy.

Moore went 1-4 post concussion, and didn't play well that year. But then again no one did considering he won 50% of their games in 35% of their starts.

But more relevantly, the next season, with the lame duck who didn't care, John Fox gone, and their TEs upgrades as well as continuing to have "Smith" and "one of the best running games in the league" Cam Newton over an equivalent period started the season with that upgraded team 1-5 and 2-10 - and those were wins over Jacksonville (1 TD pass to the new TE Olson) and Washington where it was he himself who rushed for 59 yards and 1 TD, a 16yd run despite having those weapons and more.

Bottom Line: If he had been a late rounder or UFA, after going 2-10, he also would have been pulled for Jimmy Clausen and given no opportunity to redeem himself.

Honestly for me it depends on what kind of contract would be required to get Flynn.  I see him as a marginal upgrade over Moore.  I do not think that he's good enough to be HANDED the starting job (and therefore, a hefty contract).  But if he comes in with a modest contract and knowing he will have to compete with Moore, fine.

I'd rather save the money, improve elsewhere, and look to draft a QB this year or next, or both.

Matt Flynn Rumors: Free-Agent QB Is Destined for Miami Dolphins

After the Miami Dolphins failed in their pursuit of Peyton Manning, the free-agent QB under center in 2012 will be former Packers backup Matt Flynn.
The Manning scenario was enticing, and the organization owed it to themselves to pursue him. But I don't see them beating out Denver or Tennessee for the legend's services.

It seems no team has been officially ruled out, per this ESPN report after his Titansmeeting. But the hometown appeal and John Elway's influence make the Broncos and Titans the favorites, in my opinion:

Manning has not eliminated any of the teams with which he has previously met—the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, or Miami Dolphins—sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen, nor has he closed the door on possibly meeting with other teams.

Something tells me that the Brandon Marshall trade and Reggie Wayne's return toIndianapolis doesn't bode well for Manning's chances in Miami.

That brings the Fins back to Flynn.
From the moment former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin took the job as Dolphins head coach, the speculation began about Flynn joining him in Miami. Now it appears the two parties have been in touch as the Dolphins arrange their Manning contingency plans.
Omar Kelly and Izzy Gold of the Boston Herald report:

The Dolphins believe they are still in the hunt for Manning, though they began pursuit free agent quarterback Matt Flynn.

A source said the Dolphins and Cleveland Browns are exchanging contract offers with Flynn, who should command a contract that pays him approximately $8 million a season.
It makes the most sense.

Flynn is a bit of a gamble for any team to sign to a large contract. To say he's had limited in-game experience would be an understatement. He has thrown only 132 passes in four seasons.

It is quite possible Flynn isn't the guy we saw in the 2011 season finale against the Detroit Lions. In that game, he was 31-of-44 for 480 yards and six TDs.
But that was just one game.
With limited QB options available this offseason, and the class is getting smaller by the day, Flynn is the best fit for Miami.
