I'm not pimping Cassel as someone I hope to sign as a free agent in the off-season but it is something that makes an interesting conversation, and a strong argument can be made for it.

Watching the Jets Vs. Pats i think there is a good chance he can be the real deal. I'm thinking about now (despite what the national media says) the Dolphins have more talent and far younger talent than the Pats, if Cassel can look good with that lot, imagine what he "might" look like for years to come as a Dolphin. The is young and hitting free agency this year. He knows the Pats inside and out and Tom Brady inside and out.

I'm not trying to disrespect Pennington and this discussion isn't about him. I think we all know he has his limits and isn't the long term answer for the Dolphins.

That brings up Henne. I really am looking forward to seeing him play and hope we get to sometime this season, on positive terms. I think Henne could be he real thing as well but do you hedge your bets and try to grab a guy like Cassel if they become available?

So was Pennington, but I dont see us signing him. Anyways I think the Pats will Franchise him. Especially since Bray might not be ready for next season.

Is this a joke? If you were in front of me right now, I might be willing to do the time for slapping you.

Well, I really doubt if Brady was coming back, even in two years you would franchise a backup quarterback.

Anyway, he is going to be a free agent which, correct me if I'm wrong, means he decides his fate and he can only be franchised if he decides to resign with a franchise tag. Granted the money might or might not be right for him, but would he sign knowing he would (or might be) just a backup, which would seriously damage his chances for a second big contract down the road.

In response to the "enemy" post, that's a response I expect from a 10 year old. If you haven't noticed the Dolphins are built of players/staff from all around the league...including Parcells who is an ex Patriot and Jet.

And the person who thinks they would want to slap me, first read the original post and this topic is just for discussion. Second, talking tough via the internet is so lame you just sound stupid.

I don't know why you think We All Know Chad isn't the long term answer for the Dolphins. He is still in his early 30s and playing very well. Why couldn't he be the long term answer? To me 5-7 years is long term and Chad probably has that left. And if he isn't the long term answer, I would trust Henne with that designation more so than Cassel. Cassel has had few good games. Don't base a career on one good outing: He lost that one by the way.

Derek Anderson was the flavor of the day last year - and more battle tested than Cassel both in college and the pros.. How many teams would have traded for/signed HIM???

Thanks but no thanks.

I know that you're only trying to create discussion. However, this is probably more ridiculous than your suggestion to draft Darren McFadden. Back to the drawing board, homey.

Oh, I know I sound stupid, I was just trying to sound like you. Do you think I'm going to respond to a post like this intellegently?

What is the matter with this forum. We are in the p[layoff hunt and folks want to discuss Chad Henne being a bust and our possibilities of aquiring Matt Cassel in the offseason. Are you kidding me. All I hear is how Chad get get Ginn the ball deep. Has anyone seen Matt Cassels deep ball? He's missed Moss more times than Belechick would miss him.

The real question here is do you think Cassel is a one hit wonder, a product of the system he is in, or a starter caliber QB anywhere he goes.

Personally I think he is the real deal within that system. Which really dosnt make him valuable to us, someone will screw up and overpay for him though and he will go because no nfl player is going to pass up an opprotunity to plays a starter.

IMO, which I have already started a thread on, is that they should consider resigning him as their starter and trade Brady to the highest bidder.

Yes we are in the playoff hunt with our starting QB only having a maxium of 4 yrs left in him and we dont know if we have a starter caliber QB to replace him yet. You are right though, it sure feels good to be in the playoff hunt and the only thing I really wanna talk about is kicking the patriots butts.

I couldn't disagree more. Lets not forget how great Tom Brady is because Cassel has a flash in the pan over the past few weeks. 90% of those deep balls Cassel has misses, and it's been a lot to a WIDE OPEN Moss, Brady hits. Tom Brady, like him or not, is the best QB in the NFL. He is the Patriots and the biggest reason for their success. If I'm NE I hold on to Brady for as long as he stays upright.

Like I said I already got a thread going about this and I dont want to hijack this one. I will say this much though what your saying is banking on the return of the same tom brady of the past. I think this is the third time he has surgery on his knees and there may be complications and they be going back in again. He is not going to come back as the QB he once was.
