Just wondering who was everyones football 'Hero' 'Idol' or whatever you wanna call it growing up

Since I play reciever mine is Jerry Rice, even though I mostly caught the tail end of his career, I think he is the greatest player of all time, and If I could choose one player to ever meet or hang with it would be Jerry

i play linebacker, i think mines ray lewis i love his intensity and anger, he is exactly what a linebacker should be a nasty mean crazy big powerfull and fast killin machine

I love ray and thats a very accurate description of him

I played DE, G, and LB but mine was still Jerry Rice. His in laws lived in the same town that i grew up in and my Grandfather was their postal carrier and he set it up where i got to work out with him a couple of times. Needless to say this man is one of the greatest people i've ever gotten the pleasure of knowing, and his knowledge of the game was extremely insightful. By the way he prepares i can def. see why his career lasted as long as it did.

When I played quarterback I admired Jay Fiedler because I always made the tackle after I got picked off throwing and out pattern(really)

I envy you man

I wish I could work out with Jerry Rice........my life goal is to break all his recieving records  But damn the longer he kept playing the less likely it seemed....I thought if I ever did make the NFL he would still be playing at age 60 lol. He finally retired...I can make up some ground...once reception at a time...my current stats read as follows

NFL career

Receptions 0
Yards 0
Average Yards After Catch 0
TD's 0

I grew up a fan of most of the '85 Bears team.......of that team, Payton was a guy who I admired most....the tenacity with which he attacked life, his drive even when he was dying. Attributes like that are rare, and I admired a man who looked at death and acknowledged that he was there and yet he still fought until the end. Just as in his playing days, he wasn't going to let a safety or linebacker get the last hit in...Payton was going to lower his shoulder and let that defender know just who he was, and that was how I saw Payton handling Mr. Reaper. Seeing him back in February of 1999 at that press conference was a day that I'll never forget. My "hero" growing up was then a frail skinny man, who fought back tears and his pride to let the world know just how fragile life is and even a man who seemed to surpass all odds and conquer all he set his mind too could also fall victim to the wiles of cancer....November 1st, 1999 is another day that I can't and hopefully will not forget. I was only three months into my eighteenth year of life when I woke up that morning and my mother told me Walter had passed......

I never knew of his last days...never knew he was even in his last days until word of his death was released. It didn't really hit home until the networks started with the tributes....seeing in action what made him a hero to me...hearing his brother Eddie talking about him, hearing others honor him with their words.

Walter was a hero to many....I'm glad I'm able to say I was able to watch him play!
