For all of you who want to clean house...

Two simple questions:

- Are you ready to go through another 2-3 years of "rebuilding"? Because cleaning house will imply that much.

- Who is really available? Both at GM and HC, since you want to start fresh.

BTW be ready to lose Nolan too (who btw is getting zero accountability for the crappy defense).

Amazing how Tampa Bay wona superbowl right after canning their much better coach

And thus, wait another X years to be competitive.
We aren't competitive now! Back to back 7-9 seasons, can't win at home! This team is vastly overrated among its fan base! The rest of the country isn't fooled by this 6 win smoke screen!

Are you comparing this defense (or offense) to anything close to what Tampa had? Also they managed to keep Kiffin as DC, key part of that success.

Again, somehow we are 7-3 in our last 10 road games.

Arbitrary sample sizes are amazing, aren't they?

No they aren't you can get lost in your bull**** smoke and mirrors philosophy all you want! It is very simple football is a barbaric game based on results and ours suck! You can't spin this teams trash! A new.regime does not mean 2 to 3 year rebuild! Hire the right people and they will win!

So is Henne.

I'll give you that Sparano is spineless in many situations. I'm not here to argue *for* the guy, just wondering if the lot of you realize what a change implies.

its just inevitable. this team will never win in any significant manner with sparano as head coach. its just the facts. and heres the thing we forget. this team doesnt have any bigger fans than these players themselves! they WANT to win!!! they are fans too! they love the dolphins - cause they play for them! they want to be loved! they want direction. believe me, these guys question if tony sparano can lead them to victories!!! they arent dummies... they see the same ****!!! their family members ask them about this stuff.

"hey why did tony call that timeout?" hey why is caroll matched up on johnson? he why didnt u go for it on 4th down???

listen these players get it WORSE than we give it to each other here in finheaven! and nobody wants to win more than those guys. guys they KNOW hes not the guy. it shows on the field. they just dont believe in him. and for good reason.

this franchise needs credability more than just about any out there. its reached a point where u could make an argument we are/have been on par with the bengals/browns/lions over the last 25 years.

nothing brings credibility like a proven winner. a guy who has done it. in the pros. that leaves mariucci/johnson/billick/cowher/gruden/ maybe a couple im missing that are out there and have a ring (i know shula)

of that list it seems gruden/cowher make the most sense. IMHO gruden is a much better choice and i could a long list of reasons. i really believe gruden could make it work. hes young enough to relate to these guys, hes so positive, he wont stand for any ****, and hes PASSIONATE. u wont see those dumb *** press conferences from gruden.

we lose under this guy. and hell have that media believing the next team we play is DEEP ****. and hell have that locker room believing it too.

hell get asked what he needs to do and he wont say "i dont know" hell look at that damn reporter with that scowl (chuckie). and tell him, were gonna coach em up. and if they dont want to play well find someone who does. hell say ill tell u that right now. and that reporter will be left apologizing for even asking. the mood will be pissed off/positive. not sulking/lost (sparano - always).

gruden would make a huge difference here. but hes got to have the right guy finding talent and for that i honestly dont know. i dont have that answer.

i would actually say i think with chuckie here ireland COULD be the guy. and it could bring some continuity. but the thing is, i dont know if gruden would come if irelands here. and irelands mistakes would need to be corrected. perhaps with grudens input they could be. not sure.

There are a ton of factors beyond the field that make the decision to clean house that much more inevitable.

Rebuilding as opposed to what's been going on for decades now? Would a rebuilding team be any worse than what we're seeing now? Or the back-to-back 7-9s we got before? How could rebuilding be any worse than the status quo? We were 30th in the league last year in scoring. The losing that we're suffering now doesn't even come with the potential for better days later, we're just losing with no hope of improving. What's the alternative to rebuilding?

Let's be realistic here, you need a degree of luck to succeed in the NFL. Sure you can have a miracle season where the team goes from worst to first, but you quickly realize that such accomplishments are ephemeral, they'll quickly evaporate. A rebuild that is meant to last, to make a team successful for a period of years, requires a quarterback. Teams like the Steelers who could compete year in and year out with scrubs like Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczk, Neil O'Donnell, etc, etc, are rare. Winning a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien as your QB is the equivalent of a monkey typing Oliver Twist. Dan Marino's genius carried this franchise more than many people realized. He was the difference between this team being a contender and this team being 2-14 for years on end. He was that important and we were that bad of a franchise. What we see now is what this organization would have been if not for Dan Marino.

Our only choice is to reboot the franchise with new management and coaching and then hope Luck falls into our lap. There are always general manager prospects out there, the trick is usually to get one from an established tree. You've got to start with guys like Kevin Colbert and Tom Heckert at GM. They're both very, very good and they both started their careers with the Dolphins. Heckert having a long, family connection with the team. You start there. If you can't get them, then there are several promising executives that would jump at the chance of a promotion. The GM and not the owner should be picking the HC. Jeff Ireland didn't have any sort of resume when Parcells picked him out of Dallas. He was chosen because he'd be subservient. He had a previous relationship, like Sparano, with Parcells, those were their only qualifications. The pool of exceptional coaching and managerial talent is small, but the demand will be great again next year. The Dolphins won't be the only bottom-feeders looking for change, and unfortunately, this franchise is no longer a premier brand. We used to assume that any coaching or management types would be jumping all of the legacy, but the legacy is largely a tiny dot in a rear view mirror. At this point we can't even boast of an owner like Huizenga that would sign any check, while disappearing completely into the background and showing almost infinite patience with whatever his people were doing, no matter how disappointing.

And thus, wait another X years to be competitive.

Or the alternative, which is to not be competitive for another X amount of years. Smart.

You can keep saying "Arbitrary Sample Size" as many more times as you want, but the reality is that you are downplaying the reflective nature that going 1-9 at home has on the coach. Comparing it to our winning away record is ridiculous and doesn't create a sound argument for not replacing him. A good coach DOES NOT lose at home that much. Period. If he does, you replace him. It's as simple as that. Going 1-9 at home has a direct correlation to being a bad team, which we are and have been for the past couple years.

And YES we know what change means. Just because we have a risk of being bad for another few years doesn't mean we keep our current incompetent staff. How does that make any sense whatsoever? You admit yourself that Sparano is gutless, but you fail to use the same logic for the other argument. Sure we may suck for another few years, but you have to take the RISK by getting a new coach and staff and hope they know what they are doing. You need to take the RISK and try to make this team better. That is also a microcosm for this regime. Without taking risks (i.e. playing not to lose and drafting conservative) you never have a chance for greatness. Why not replace them and try to get better? What would be the point of sticking with this garbage?

You do realize it took Cowher 13 years to win a Superbowl, right? And that Pittsburgh continues to be successful after he left, which points to Dick Lebeau's defenses being the main reason for their success?

Immediate BAN!!!!

I called it a couple weeks ago. I said if I had to post this again because one more person compares the current BS running our team to Cowher it should be a ban.

You dont fire a dude who does the following in his first few seasons somewhere...........

Under Cowher, the Steelers showed an immediate improvement from the disappointing 7-9 season the year before, going 11-5 and earning home field advantage in the AFC after the Steelers had missed the playoffs six times out of the previous seven years. In 1995, at age 38, he became the youngest coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl. Cowher is only the second coach in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first six seasons as head coach, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame member Paul Brown.

Do you catch on? See any difference from what Moron O has done so far? Dude went to a SUPER BOWL with Neil ****ing ODonell as his QB. NEIL ODONELL. HE ALMOST WON TOO. 6 playoffs in a row to start his career. YOU DONT FIRE THAT GUY!!!!!

You should be banned.

There is an old saying, " Ignorance is bliss " Not that I expect most on this site to even comprehend it. Didn't you know that as soon as Coach X walks in that everything magically improves so much so the team will be winning games on auto Pilot. LMAO.

Ignorance is abundant on this board.

He should be banned because he brings nothing to this board! He doesn't know football! He gets lost in a hybrid philosophical stance. Hello LaLa Land!

This thread is just full of Epic Fail. It should just be renamed Sparano.

1) It dosent necessarially take 2-3 years to be competative if you change regimes and coaches. In todays league, all you need is a good HC and a good QB and you can win. Many teams do it with first year people.

2) Even if it did mean 2-3 more years of not winning to get into position to win again, isnt that better than 2-3 more years of the current morons in charge of this team? With those clowns, youre guarenteed to lose. How can you not realize that? You dont avoid change just because it will be difficult. You have to change in order to get going in the right direction. Sometimes in life, you must take a step back in order to take steps forward. DUH!

If you believe in Sparano, just say so. If not, then whats the ****ing problem. We have to move on from this dip****. Ireland too. He's a ****ing joke.

I told you this 2 years ago. If we had just pulled the plug on these *******es then, we wouldve already gone through this so called rebuilding phase and been ready to win NOW!

Hell, if we had just drafted Matt Ryan instead of that dude who got OWNED on the first series today by some OLB Ive never even heard of, we wouldve been winning then and winning now. If we had just let Parcells go to Atlanta, they would be in the ****ter right now and we could perhaps be winning. Parcells was the biggest mistake in a huge pile that this franchise has made over the last 12 or so years.

lol. in reality at the end of the day there are 2 guys out there who absolutely are clear winners at the top level of the game. and with the correct people picking the groceries they will continue to win in the NFL. in reality, it doesnt matter which side of the fence u stand on with this. both are solid choices, and should leave nobody complaining.

me personally, i believe Gruden the coach fits Miami the city. this team should IMO be built around solid quarterback play and speed. it should match the vision ross has for his team. it should be electric. grudens a qb guy. but most of all i love his youth and passion. just think hes a better fit. better choice, but at the end of the day i dont think we as fans could complain about either decision OR try to discredit or diminish anything theyve accomplished.

if we land either of these guys - in all likelihood we are headed in the right direction. and REGARDLESS we are light years ahead of where we currently stand with MORON. O!!!
