This is a young offense right now, they will have growing pains. Wade Smith isn't going to be cut, Todd Perry isn't coming back to start at RG. As a team, they have what they have. Wannstedt isn't getting fired in the middle of the season and Ricky isn't coming back anytime soon. So let's all deal with reality here.

Injuries: Boston, Akins, Roundtree, Surtain, Konrad, Bowens, Newson, Howard, Mcintosh, Minor, Morris, Chester and those are just off the top of my head. They haven't even put the whole team on the field yet. The offensive line will get better each game they play together. Getting Konrad back soon will help a lot.

The last preseason game against the Saints Speilman was in the press box with the announcers and he was saying how he sort of built this current offensive line like the Packers did. He got a lot of young players with potential and they are all going to play, grow, and gain experience together. It might take a year or 2 but THIS CURRENT O-LINE will be good. The packers struggled for a while, now they have a dominant O-line. If the coaching staff pulls or benches any of the younger players (Feeley, W.Smith, Whitley) you risk losing them for the season and possibly stunting their growth for their whole careers.

I'm not a hopelessly optimistic fan, I was pissed last night when they lost to the bengals. But, at the same time I'm not writting off this season and drooling over a #1 draft pick. There is talent on this team and it will show up. 0-2 sucks, but it's not the end of the world. 0-3 however is much worse, they must win this week.

This upcoming game will be very winnable. Our defense has still only given up 19 points in 2 games to good offensive teams. Their facing a rookie qb, their playing at home, and they should be fired up. A win this week and this team will be right back in the thick of things.

So buck up dolphins fans, stop the negativity, and try actually rooting for this team instead of rooting against players (wade smith, Feeley/Fielder) and coaches. Try it, it just might work!

nice post...im with ya for most of it, only thing is i'm not too sure how much talent we have on the o-line

Yeah yeah, I agree that it's great to be positive. However, I do not foresee last nights O/Line ever being good no matter what anyone says if those same players are playing together. How much 'gelling' does it take to block a player, any player, just for a second, even if it means just putting your body in front of him! A coupe of those guys couldn't even manage that, not even for a nanosecond!

Now, I would agree that if they changed out a couple of those weak guys as suggested in another thread, then and only then will the 'gell' thing happen and the O/Line could develop into something better.

Smith did look horrible at times last night. I don't know if he was confused as to his assignment or just flat out got beat, inexcusable either way. Every player gets beat, Orlando Pace got beat for a sack, forced fumble, and a defensive touchdown on sunday, so it happens. But flat out not blocking someone is awful. I am hopeful that this current o-line will get better and better every week.

This line is so young, I'm not sure everyone realizes that. Wade Smith is a 2nd year player, so is Taylor Whitley, Mckinney is in his first year as a starter. The two most experienced linemen James and St Claire are both under 30. These guys simply haven't played enough to be comfortable with eachother. If you have never played offensive line then you can't understand how much the comfort level comes into it. They'll be ok with time.

Our OL has the lowest number of combined starts entering the season of any OL in the league. There is nowhere to go but up. It seems though as if Smith is regressing rather than progressing, and as soon as McIntosh is ready physically, he needs to be starting. He is the most experienced OLineman we got now, can run block as well or better than anyone we got, and after the way Smith got abused by Justin Smith, DMac could do better pass blocking too.
When an OL though looks as lost and clueless as ours did last night, to me it comes back a lot to the coaches and how well they were prepared. Tony Wise has this big rep as a top OL coach based almost entirely on the Dallas OLs from their Super Bowl teams of the early 90s, but he sure hasn't shown to be any better or even as good as Larry Beightol or Paul Boudreau since he's been with the Dolphins

You are the man!

Agree with original post but Wade Smith is over his head. Not ready for the NFL. Don't know how he did so well last year, maybe cause we were better at other positions and was overlooked, now that the other positions are also struggling, his ability or lack thereof stands out.

If there had not been so many cases of defenders in the backfield completely UNTOUCHED, it would be a different story. McMichael made more good blocks on the line than Wade Smith's 315 lb butt!:fire:

YEah agree with you 99%. I've been saying all along that the offensive line will improve, we'll start moving the ball with time behind an improving line. But, I don't think Wade SMith will improve under the current regime. He needs a new coach. He keeps getting worse every game under Tony WIse.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah

What a bunch of CRAP! That was the WORST NFL offensive display I have EVER seen! We are not the Packers pal! Ricky left Dave! Injuries happened on Dave's watch - be that his doing by poor training or poor preparation or part of the game as all team's suffer - they happened to him! His failures are the fans' misery. I may come to forgive him some day but I will NEVER forget! This is dispicable and disgraceful!

And as bad as this offense and offensive line have looked in the first 2 games, they could have won both of them! But yet there are people who want to cash in this year and wait for the draft, pathetic.

I will have to agree, Wade Smith is playing VERY uninspired football. When I saw the replay on one of AJ's blindside sacks and saw Wade do nothing but smack the hands of the pass rusher(as if to say "bad dog, sit") That drew the line for me. Not to mention the look on Wades' face after Randy tore into the line after that series. The man looked dumbfounded.

I'm not cashing in my chips yet, but I will call what I see. And as far as I can see Wade needs to take a seat and give someone that wants to play chance. I can't see Smith gelling with anything but his hair pick at this point in time.

Okay, that was an uncalled non-PC attack, but I had to get it out of my system. The man just looked completely lost and out of touch with reality when they panned over to the O-Line after Randy called them out.
