For All The Ignorant Fans

This is a young offense right now, they will have growing pains. Wade Smith isn't going to be cut, Todd Perry isn't coming back to start at RG. As a team, they have what they have. Wannstedt isn't getting fired in the middle of the season and Ricky isn't coming back anytime soon. So let's all deal with reality here.

Injuries: Boston, Akins, Roundtree, Surtain, Konrad, Bowens, Newson, Howard, Mcintosh, Minor, Morris, Chester and those are just off the top of my head. They haven't even put the whole team on the field yet. The offensive line will get better each game they play together. Getting Konrad back soon will help a lot.

The last preseason game against the Saints Speilman was in the press box with the announcers and he was saying how he sort of built this current offensive line like the Packers did. He got a lot of young players with potential and they are all going to play, grow, and gain experience together. It might take a year or 2 but THIS CURRENT O-LINE will be good. The packers struggled for a while, now they have a dominant O-line. If the coaching staff pulls or benches any of the younger players (Feeley, W.Smith, Whitley) you risk losing them for the season and possibly stunting their growth for their whole careers.

I'm not a hopelessly optimistic fan, I was pissed last night when they lost to the bengals. But, at the same time I'm not writting off this season and drooling over a #1 draft pick. There is talent on this team and it will show up. 0-2 sucks, but it's not the end of the world. 0-3 however is much worse, they must win this week.

This upcoming game will be very winnable. Our defense has still only given up 19 points in 2 games to good offensive teams. Their facing a rookie qb, their playing at home, and they should be fired up. A win this week and this team will be right back in the thick of things.

So buck up dolphins fans, stop the negativity, and try actually rooting for this team instead of rooting against players (wade smith, Feeley/Fielder) and coaches. Try it, it just might work!

Bottom Line:

This Offensive Line flat out sucks...

McIntosh was hurt when we signed him... And Wade Smith is unable to play Left Tackle, period...

They will not turn into a dominating line anytime soon...

That was the worst dolphin game I ever watched. Get rid of the line the new running backs, the qb's and most of all the HEAD COACH. He is turning us into the Bears. Just like what he did there he has done here. This year we are playing for the number one pick.

I'm trying to be optimistic here. I understand that our whole offense is new. And it's taking time for the line to gel together to work as a unit and what not.

Also I do remember last years world champions, The New England Patriots starting the season 0-2 and receiving a whooping from Buffalo. They went 14-2 on the season, and won the superbowl.

Hope is not lost. But I will say one thing for this Dolphins Organization.

I am sick of excuses, and I'm sick of seeing all this wasted talent. I'm sick of being good, but not good enough. And if it takes a losing season, for us to turn this thing around, then so be it.

The impression I get from most of the people on this board is that firing Dave will somehow make us a better team overnight. It doesn't work that way. I guarantee you that if we bring in a new coach we'll struggle even more if they bring in a new system. NFL teams and NFL wins aren't made overnight, it takes sometimes years for players to mature and gel with eachother to the point where they can play at their max ability. We as fans have been fortunate to have very good teams the past decades. Unfortunately we didn't have the best team, just very good teams. It is impossible to be good every year, it just is.

Well other than the condesending tone the title of this thread takes, you have a point or two about the O-line. But you are not the only one here that has a point. The playing not to lose coaching style is for real and we've all seen it for going on five years now. It's not entertaining and it leads to a team having no killer instinct as we've seen when we choke. The O-line has been falling apart since DW day 1 and is only being addressed now. People expect way too much from this line. I have no expectations for this season anymore. Frankly I would be OK with rebuilding this offense if that were indeed what was going on. Unfortunately it isn't. This offense has got worse every season Wanndstedt has been here and includes while we had Ricky. This boat is indeed sinking fast and I only pray to God that no more draft picks are wasted trying to shore up this team for a supposed playoff run. I will say this once. We are not making the playoffs this year. I'm OK with that if a dedication to rebuilding this team and not saving a certain coaches job were the way of things.

Were you watching the same game we all were, or was this your postgame report on Miami vs Cincinatti a couple o' years ago or so?

I appreciate that some are trying to infuse a sense of optimism into the situation. I also would have more patience with the results on the field if the front office had made a real effort to effect some organizational changes. Instead the primary motivation on retaining the current staff was because the owner was convinced that this team was a real contender. So that is how they should be judged, not as a young unit learning how to play the pro game but as a team that claims real aspirations. Undre those standards they have failed so far and will fail ultimately. I would be good to remember also, that the lack of good will towards the coach was not the result of this offseason but primarily based on the failures of the past 2 seasons. While it is true that they have been a winning team and many teams fall short, the way they have found varied and inventive ways to fold under pressure is not only the butt of jokes but perhaps unprecedented in the recent history of the NFL. You would be hard pressed to find a team that has accomplished so little compared to the number of wins. It is always something different;if it is not the offense failing to put points up,its the highly regarded defense failing to hold up in late game situations( another example of which was put on display this Sunday night),or perhaps it is missed field goals, or penalties, or dropped passes, or blown assignments. The point is, it is a collective breakdown in confidence, focus, and clutch play, including our best players, and especially in late season, late game situations, that demanded and still demands a change of atmosphere. A change that to my mind was overdue but not forthcoming.

That is the reason why this organization has not earned my( and many others) good will, patience, and benefit of the doubt.
