I was one of the last diehards who would have preferred Jeff George when the Jest cut Chad. Used and even animated all the noodlearm cliches.

However, I was dead wrong. He didn't have a wonderful day, but heyll, without him we'd be looking up at a laughing Dick Jauron. His skills, his sterling character, great leadership and motivating abilities turned a season few realists expected to be better than 6-7 wins into a divisional championship and 2 NFL record breaking or tying turnaround accomplishments. Even if he was half as good as he turned out to be, we couldn't have found a better more willing mentor for Henne to learn from in the classroom and by example. Bracket that against that load favre who, when Rodgers was drafted is on record as saying he could give a crap about mentoring him.

I want Chad starting next year. If he stumbles, then start putting Henne in. I was wrong. WV was right!(oh it always hurts to say THAT). Everyone has a bad game and we were simply overwhelmed by a better team. We've got too many other holes and weaknesses to sacrifice one of our few strengths before we're a legit Superbowl contender.

And while I'm on a buzz-filled rant, I don't wanna hear anymore of those Ryan instead of Long complaints.. especially when the guy who beat us could have been had at 17 and is the one who continues on!!!

I have to admit that I groaned when I heard we signed Chad. I was not a fan of "noodle-arm". But he really won me over this season. His cool demeanor and leadership were invaluable in helping to establish an offensive identity for this team.

I think people forget just how truly awful we were on offense last season. And while I wouldn't say we were ever an offensive powerhouse, we certainly gained respect as the season wore on. And lets also not forget that he put up his numbers with the least scary WR core in the league.

I totally agree. When we picked up Pennington at the beginning of the season I thought it would not matter and that he was a washed up loser. Due to my hatred of the Jets I had written him off and never looked at his complete game, only the negatives. I am happy to say I was completely wrong. I am looking forward to having him back next season.

I didn't want Penny either, but he helped get us here, but he almost single handidly lost this game. Our D was playing well. If he just does what he did all year instead of throwing those horrible horrible passes, it's a different game. I mean they were just butt ugly passes.

he had 2 BAD games all year...both vs the ravens...their defensive style coupled with our lack of a strong oline and our under talented receivers spells disaster.

I agree that picking up Penny was a great move by the front office. The leadership he brought to this offense was just what we needed. The damage was done in the first half of this game, due to Chad's inability to throw the ball downfield, and our subpar group of recievers inability to get any kind of seperation. Let's see more of what Henne can do next preseason with what I hope will be a better recieving core, and go from there.

I was surprised to see the down field passes today, mainly because that's not Chad's strength and that's not the style of offense we've used all year. I guess I can understand the thinking, apparently the Ravens' weakness is the deep ball. But I think the talent matchup dictated otherwise. I mean Ed Reed is an amazing player, and our WRs are average. Big mismatch.

I'm not mad at Chad. How can you be? He is obviously the reason for our turnaround. Not to mention he is a great mentor for this team. I'm kind of a little disappointed in the play calling. Before the game, I strongly felt our best chance was to spread them out and hit them with the quick passes (one of Chad's strengths). Obviously most of our success came today with that style of offense. I just wish we decided to use it before the game started to slip away.

Lets face it, we lost to the better team. The Ravens defense stole those balls, Chad didnt give them away. Excelent play by the Baltimore defense lost us this game.

If youre looking at the Phi-Minn game, notice the time Mcnabb has to think it over, come back, scramble a little, have some tea, scratch his ba##s, then, throw....
Penny is good enough, and Henne is learning behind him, its exciting.
We need to upgrade this line, and hopefully get our injured back, there was just not enough time for Chad.

I have to call a spade a spade, Chad gave those away. The first went way over Bess's head, the secons was thrown way inside, the third Reed made a good play, but the ball shouldn't have been thrown. They were bad passes that the D really didn't have anything to do with. Chad just had a bad day,as all QB's do. It's a hard game.

The thing that was disappointing is how bad Chad's decisions were. The first INT, he was scrambling, he tried to gun it, and the ball sailed. That happens. On the second INT, he just lobbed it up for grabs into double coverage, with Ed Reed one of those guys. On the 3rd INT, he again threw into double coverage, and again, with Reed being one of them. And he had single coverage on the other side of the field. This was just a horrid decision on Chad's part. And on the 4th INT, Chad stared down his receiver the entire way, allowing Reed to come all the way over from the other side of the field. And Chad threw that ball without ever checking the middle of the field to see where the D was. It was not a play you'd expect from a veteran QB. Chad had a great year for us, but he deserves the blame for the last 3 INT.

You know what though, IT happens. It sucks losing especially when you beat yourself. However, we were 1-15 last year, and started off 0-2. 11-5 my brothas (and sistas)! What a season and what a ride! We swept Buffalo, and put the Jets and Pats out of the post season. It hurts, but I still have a smile on your face!

I agree. The 1st 2 int's were just poor throws by Chad. On the second int. Ginn was open before he tripped. But the ball should have been thrown to the outside shoulder, not inside, which is where the safety help was.
His 3rd int. I have no idea what he was thinking. It looked like a rookie mistake trying to force a ball into double coverage.
I like Chad, but he is limited physically.
I am hoping Henne beats him out next season in a fair competition. That would mean an upgrade at that position too.

If Pennington was clearly the only problem we had today, I'd be entertaining thoughts of what might have been, and what can we do to bolster the QB position.

But we were out-played, out-hustled, and thoroughly beaten by a very good team in multiple phases and in different matchups. I was disappointed in CP's play for much of the day, but he never quit and the guys on the team surely admire that. After everything he's done for us this year, I think he is entitled to be our starter entering camp next year and the job should be his until injury or poor performance dictates a changing of the guard is in order. I'm not a fan of giving the job to someone else out of curiosity.

As it is, we are a very attractive place for FAs to want to play once again, and that alone feels good. Being AFCE Champs and having the Trifecta in place as we do bodes well for a very solid offseason!

Nice thread.
