For all you "Start Henne" guys.... Read this

I find it interesting that some people are saying it was a soft, prevent defense, and people who were at the game were saying that it most assuredly was not. I've not usually seen blitzes in a prevent, but, I digress.

I'm not necessarially yelling to start Henne, but, OTOH, if we stick with the Pennington/Henning combination for more than two more losses, that tells me that this staff regards this season as a pre season for next year and, has no serious intent of winning this season at all.

I dunno. I wasn't at the game

But, I watched that last drive about three times on tv. It didn't look like a prevent defense to me. Obviously, a pass-defense orientated defense. But they were still bringing extra guys, which forced Henne to make quick decisions on a few of his throws.

And I do remember how the commentators stated over and over again, how the Arizona Defense did not want Miami to school, and how they were playing to keep them out of the endzone, even though it didn't really matter anymore. That they'd like to go out of this game, not having allowed a single TD.

So that's just what I saw and heard.

great article, i have changed my stance on getting henne in their sooner then later, let pennington suffocate the offense, we will learn how to block with 8 men in the box, henne will learn the mental part of the game from pennington, and once were mathmatically eliminated, make it a smooth transition instaed of a move of desperation

of course this is a preseason for next year...wins are only bonuses at this point.

they are evaluating from top to bottom for the future

I'm hopeing not, because I find that completely unacceptable. Here's an opposing idea; Let's utilize people properly and try to build the confidence of a young team by trying to win. The damage that's done to a team from an administration that makes it clear they don't care about winning is going to breed nothing but failure on every level.

Oh I'm sure they are trying to win, so let me rephrase. They are not mortgaging the future to try to win games now. They are trying different things, and starting different guys to find out who and what they have at the top and bottom of the roster, in order to increase our chances for success for the future. The truth is, yes this is a 20 game preseason. That is just the facts.

I was under the impression that that was what OTA's and TC and preseason was for, and the regular season was for winning!

Of course the regular season is for winning and I am sure that they are trying to win; however, IMO this season's success will be measured in terms of progress vice wins and losses.

I really have mixed feelings about Henne starting. The common sense side of me says let him stay on the bench and work mop up only but the competitive side wants to unleash the future now. As they say, good things are worth waiting for.................
