I haven't seen this posted, but anyone who thinks the wildcat is a gimmick really needs to read this. Shula is a big fan of this offense and explains why. He compares this team to the 70s Dolphins. I never noticed it, but he's right. Although the 70s Fins had a better defense. I know throwing the ball and a high octane offense is sexy...but I really enjoy watching the Fins pound teams. Today's Dolphins punch other teams right in the mouth. It's old fashioned football at it's finest. Throwing the ball can get you to the playoffs. Running the ball will win you the Superbowl.

Is there a single Dolphin fan that thinks it is a gimmick?

I don't think anyone in the world believes it is except for Bart Scott.

Shula is the reason I became a fan in the first place and I love the fact that he still considers himself a part of the organization by using "we" in refering to the fins.

"We've got the backs that can score. I'm happy about that, and looking forward to the rest of the year."

As stated before, you'd be hard pressed to find any fin fan still calling it a gimmick. You'll find some Pats/Jets fluffers still call it a gimmick I'm sure, but most people are starting to come around to seeing what it really is, a power running formation.
