Veteran defensive tackle Jason Ferguson is entering the final year of his contract with the Dolphins. And if the Dolphins choose not to keep him beyond 2010, Ferguson will call it quits.
This could be it for me,” Ferguson, 35, told Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “If they don’t want me back then I’ll be done. I definitely have some more left in my tank, but I have to show that.”

I like the fact that he says he still has some left in his tank. Gives us more time to find a replacement or groom one from the current roster.

Ferguson says he feels good and thats a good thing for the phish and their fans. I think he will stay healthy this year and play at least a couple more.

He has been in the league 12 years...Take away a year because of injuries. Thats a year without taking all the pounding DTs take.Like i said i believe he will give us at least 2 more solid years.

Keith Traylor was in the league until he was 38. Traylor played for the Dolphins around that age. Ferguson is a much better nose than Traylor so I have no doubt he could stick around longer.

I also think that Ferguson will sign a 2-year contract or so next offseason and we will groom another NT so that Ferg can retire and we don't have a loss of quality at that position..

unless Ferg wants to take a big pay cut I dont see us resigning him. He is a fairly average player.

Really? I thought Traylor was a beast except for the last year he was with us.

I had no problem with Keith Traylor, if anything, getting Ferguson isnt really a loss or gain from Traylor, i guess u could say he kept an "kept the flow" of things in the middle

Kevin Carter said that Matt Roth would lead to his retirement. That never happened either.
