This time, you get to see from the start how important it is to Chad Pennington. Everyone already knew from last season of his 6 a.m. video sessions, of his weekly meetings with offensive linemen, of how he stepped in the huddle last preseason and instantly changed the team.

But Sunday, after the first day of training camp, here's the text message he sent to his personal trainer, Charles Petrone:

"I crushed the conditioning," he wrote. "We did it."

Think about that a moment. Think of all the words you've ever read from veteran athletes, much less those who are their team's most valuable player and have received on-field ownership from the coach — "This is Chad Pennington's team," Tony Sparano said again Sunday.

Have you ever heard anyone say he "crushed the conditioning?"

Penny is the man, let's all hope that it pays off once the season starts.

You don't find too many players like this guy. His determination I can't even describe cuz im blown out of the water by it, his work ethic is paying off now that hes in as good of shape as he was as a rookie, he doesn't let this whole chad henne thing bother him. He just shows up gets his work in, has his meetings, and puts the team on his back. I really can't describe how happy I am that we landed Penny. Not to mention thx to Favre for setting the jets back a couple of years while we are making ourselves known around the league!

Think about it, he's motivating us. Imagine what he's doing to all his team mates.... Were gonna come out on fire vs ATL.

Seriously, is there more of a consummate professional than Chad Pennington? He defines the term. A pro's pro.

We've been long overdue for another Super Bowl visit...Let's hope we can put it together this year.

Damn. That motivated me haha. January in Miami... I like the sound of that.

The problem is the SB is in February.

I hope you guys appreciate Chad more than most Jet fans did. Not only is he a really good player but he's a good person and a great teammate by all accounts.

I hate to say this but some Dolfans are doing the same thing most Jets fans did with Penny, since he doesnt have the high powered arm they want the rookie with the gun to come in because it will open up the offense, because it wil be more exciting. Well some of us just dont get it yet, look what happened to the Jets, Clemens was supposed to be the next Nameth, well when that didnt happened to went after a Legend, that didnt work either. Where as if they kept Penny last year and he stayed healthy they would have won the Division. However we are doing the same thing, well at least some of us. Hope we dont make the same mistake the Jets made.

I think he's referring to playoffs. Meaning home playoff games. I think anyway.

I have definitely noticed many wanting the Henne era to begin.

I disagree on Clemens being the next namath, he was never really hyped up. Sanchez is a different story.
