As a fin fan from outside the area watching this whole coaching search unfold has been interesting. The three major papers (The Herald, Sun-Sentinel, and Palm Beach Post) have on an almost daily basis switched who they consider to be the front runner, and have almost never agreed on a given day. In fact a lot of time they have had them almost totally opposite of one another. That is until this morning, all three now say Cameron is the leading candidate, I think that is a sign that all there sources are telling them the same thing.

The Sun-Sentinel is still pimping Gailey as a strong possibility but has conceded to naming Cam the favorite. Not sure what connection they have to Chan but they really pushed hard for him.

So I'm thinking this is the sign that barring something last minute happening or preliminary contract talks falling apart that Cam is named our new coach this afternoon. I'm ok with that, he has been my 1b choice all along.

I, like you, have been assessing the media during this search. From Mort to Adam Shefter to John Clayton to Profootballtalk.com everyone seems to be throwing darts blindfolded.

Apparently since Cam stayed the night hes the frontrunner, nevermind his interview ran long and that he flew cross-country.

Since he stayed the night he must the de facto new coach.

Ya, but he has stayed for 2 nights, not just 1. Something has to be up.

Unless Cameron turns down the offer, he should be the new head coach in Miami. There is a chance he will turn us down too, it's no lock that he's in yet, and although we're all excited that it will be done, we need keep that in mind just in case...

He could tell Wayne he's wants more money, and then a deal could go sour on us. That's why the Cards never hired M. Sherman this off-season. Bottom Line : The contract is huge in all of this, and I think they're finalizing all of that today. Let's hope he signs it, and there isn't any wavering....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Malcolm X

You know why they call him Cam? Because his first name is Malcolm.
So You heard it here first. Malcolm X's And O's...

We've been played so much in the meandering coaching search, that when the obvious is about to occurr, we're still not sure. It's obvious...it's Cam!

I have been an unabashed Gailey supporter since the start because I know Gailey and I know his personality fits perfectly with the South Florida attitude. I prefer Chan's feistiness but Cam is the more "current" of the two in terms of offensive philosophy and the more I examine what Cam brings to the table, the more he seems to be the better fit.
Yes, he had a lousy college record, but college is different than pros and certain personalities do better at one vs. the other. Cam is a lowkey, cerebral, flatline personality. College coaching seems to require the High Profile, loud, in-your-face, recruiter types. That's just not Cam's style. As offensive coordinator for the Chargers, Cam has achieved scoring records and has been consistently at the top in offensive production. We desperately What wouldneed that. Brian Shottenheimer is a Cam protege and Cam is a Quarterback developer par exellence (Frerotte made his only Pro Bowl appearance with Cam) Yes, Cam has excelled with great players but he shouldn't be penalized for that. It's not his fault Drew Brees, Rivers, LT, Turner, & Gates played well for him. Just maybe he had something to do with it!
Yes, Cam could turn out to be a bust but he could also be another Bill Walsch too!
The final thing: Cam wants to be here and he's certainly sacrificing a cushier situation more than anyone else. Shottenheimer's in his last year and Cam could easily wait, plus the Chargers are loaded with great, young talent for years to come. Cam is willing to give that up for this situation... whoa.
Gailey would be giving up Georgia Tech.
Mora would be giving up... his severance.
Capers? Shula?
Cam's the man! Let's cheer him on. :dolphins:

CAM HC, Capers DC, Garrett OC, Shula QBC, with Muller (should he stay) should be a winning set up.

Do any of you actually read what the papers say or do you simply write threads based on misleading headlines!!!??? All three major papers agree that using Cameron's name in the headline today is a wise decision because he stayed in town lastnight. None of the papers state that he is ahead of Gaily, Mora, Shula, or Capers for the job!

Sorry, you must not be reading the papers yourself. Each headline reads Cameron lead candidate. See for yourself.

Cameron may be lead candidate from Palm Beach Post,

Cameron front-runner for Dolphins job from Sun Sentinel

Cameron a front-runner as Dolphins' search nears end from Miami Herald.

If you read on, they specifically state that they believe he is the leading candidate. If all 3 papers are writing the same story, there might be something to it. People are excited as well as I am. I want Cameron more than anyone else. Let's go Wayne let's get 'r' done.
