For the Posters Worried About the O-Line

The offensive line is the worst and that doesn't say much for our head coach who used to be the Cowboys line coach, he should take this very personal and start kickin butt and taking names. Time to trim the fat and bring in some new blood, go after the two pro bowl olineman the Cowboys just released, they would be a huge upgrade over what we have here now.

Hey coach Sparano...Christmas came early for you my friend...Cowboys released center Andre Gurode and tackle Leonard Davis...how about signing both of them now!!! Offensive line problems solved and nobody is bitchin that we signed two former Cowboys because these are pro bowl players with something left in the tank and a chip on their shoulder.

You don't need to have a pulling guard to run well, most run schemes are zone blocking.

I never said our right side was perfect but it will be fine.

blocking a 4 man d-line is much different then a 3 man front; I understand there aren't only 3 men blitzing, but for the type of d lineman on those fronts our oline is betteer equipped to handle. Slow Right tackles can benefit from having the TE on their side, or recieving help from the RB in Pass Pro; you don't NEED to be quick to be an effective guard either, strength is paramount

I still feel we'll be fine, and I think a lot of you just like to worry

worry? they are psychotic! they ***** about drafting Pouncey in 1st round. then ***** about qb, even after obvious offense change, make jokes about drafting an RT in 1st round instead of a QB, and here we are!!!!!

it all comes full circle.....and will any of these GM's remember this next year? Of course not! they will all be looking for the next big name to sign and bitchin about what guy we were unable to sign.

If I had taken over this team, my first priority would have been a QB and OL all day and night. I would have drafted so many OL that people would write me off day one. But this is what most teams problems are. even the good ones have to replenish OL year after year. Pittsburgh will probably experience a little of this this year.

Now Leonard Davis is the one I like. I think he fits what we need. I have not heard any injury or $ deal, so I have to wonder.

I hope the OP realizes that Tampa had the 28th ranked run D in the league last season. Lets not hype them up just because they used some draft picks on the DLine. Most teams manhandled them last season.

the buds have invested significantly in the front seven. They will improve at least 10 spots this year.

Where was all this our offensive line sucks talk when Reggie was running rampant last week???

THIS!

They were attacking Henne last week. He shut them up with his play so they had to find something else in their "glass half empty" lives to go after.
The Oline play will shut them up too so Dan Carpenter better watch out.....you're probably next!

The problem with the oline existed last year, but continously got overlooked by all of the "Henne talk". This interior OLine and Dan Henning were 2 bigger concerns for me last season, over Henne. Henning is gone, and we see how that has helped Chad Henne. Now we have moved a solid RT to RG and brought in a guy who is clearly a liability at RT in Colombo. We have a rookie OC who continously snaps high, a LG who can't pull . . . it is something to genuinely be concerned about.

The one position they should have tinkered with (Incognito @ LG) is the one they decided to leave alone. They have a chance to rectify everything by signing Gurode, moving Pouncey to LG and Incogs to RG . . . but they don't wanna "tinker" with the line. What is moving Carey to RG doing?

I dunno, I support alot of the decisions this regime does, but this one has me generally worried. I was worried when we signed Colombo and moved Carey the day it happened . . . and I'm still worried to this day.

Now I will say Long coming back is gonna ease some of the pass rush we have been seeing, so that is a great thing. But inside, the stronger and more talented Defensive fronts are going to push us around this year and the interior run game is going to be similar to last years if we don't make adjustments while it doesn't count.

Long-Pouncey-Gurode-Incognito-(Carey/Murtha/Garner/Colombo)

so now your looking for moral victories against a likely 18th ranked rush defense...we should be able to run the ball by now against just about anyone...god knows we've spent enough money draft picks and resources on it in 4 yeasr and it still stinks...we ran the ball well not overly fantastic against what is shaping up as the worst run d in football this year in carolina and we've been completely snuffed out by the falcons and bucs...2 of the teams likely to be playing in games that matter in december...i'm sure we might have some success thursday when our starters are moving the cowboys 3rd string off the ball and that will make many here feel better about things...why it should i have no idea

if teams can shut our run down with just their front 7 we're in big time trouble starting in 2 weeks

sorry, but your jake coming back makes all things o-line look better theory doesnt hold water.

the right said is the one being trashed the most. run and pass. murtha being gone from the left will help but not near enough as the right side is horrific. and IF they cant get by jake [who will be coming in on a shaky knee and NO camp] then they will send more rush over to the weak right side making it even more horrific!!!

no excuses. tony has mis-managed this line once again and he has saved his worst for last!! it "appears" we may finally have a decent offensive scheme but our line will be so bad it wont matter. this club has been one step forward with two steps back for YEARS now. getting long back isnt going to be NEAR enough.

Yeah, they know exactly whats going on. Our FO/o-line guru head coach has spent countless draft picks(including several high picks) and FA dollars trying to get this line right. We're now in year 4 and the line looks bad as ever. But yes, lets all take a deep breath and trust a FO that has clearly earned our trust with consecutive losing seasons

It actually looks worse. I went back and watched a couple of the games in 2008 last night, and Pennington had all fricking day in some cases...this was with Soliai and NDukwe for heavens sake. The talent evaluation is just not there. That is why we are getting all these cast-offs from Dallas...they don't know how to find their own talent.

KDAWG: why would you say this when ritchie graded out asx the second best o-linemen on the team last year.
then when he had to move to center he played EXELLENT there!!

whts up with that?

I want Ritchie on this line . . . but I rather him at OC or RG. The fact that he graded out 2nd best on this OLine last year speaks volumes to how poor this OLine was and a big reason why the 3 guys who got carries last year may not be on this team this year (Ricky, Ronnie and Polite). Ritchie wasn't great at LG last year . . . just better than Berger at OC, whoever at RG and Carey at RT. This line sucked last year, I don't think there is any reasoning to think otherwise.
