can someone give me an objective summary of the game...i dont have a half hour to sit through other threads...perhaps let me know how the qbs did...the rbs did...the oline, the dline, lbs and secondary?
or maybe give me a link to a summary?
thanks...
sure...heres my summary of Saturdays game...
OFFENSE:
QB-Chad Pennington>he played 2 and a half quaters on Saturday. He played very well, for his second start.Well enough to command the starting job....lol,as if that were in jeopardy or something...He and Ginn keep the connection going,Ginn catching 3 passing from him.Chad looked very comfartable, and was ALWAYS talking to Ginn and the rest of the recievers off-field,trying to keep a fluid relationship, and try to build some chemistry and stay on the same page.Overall,I think Pennington had the best day for a starting QB in Pre-Season Week 3.
-Chad Henne>he looked kinda shaky.Just had a rookies day as all.If there ever was a "QB competition",I'd sya it was about over when Henne performed.I expect the Dolphins to official announce Penningto being the starter this season.Anywho,in the game,Henne throws an INT in the endzone. It was his fault,he underthrew it,but Peele should have at least tried to attempt to bat the ball down...Football 101,when you hink you cant make a play on the ball, make sure no one else can(i.e. abt it down or away)
-John Beck>didnt do much.Mainly just handing off the ball. There was a fumble, but it wasnt his fault. The C(whoever is secodn string...I think it was Darilek...not sure) threw the ball at John feet, there was no chance Beck could have done any different
RB-Ricky Williams>had some nice runs.A ocuple of runs to the left he could have ran for a TD,but was caught from behind cause blocking didnt hold up too long.Ricky had 2 catches, but nothing tremendous. He is looking lke is bakc to his ole' self of 2002,and I like the way he still keeps in tune with the younger back...talking to Jalen Parmele, who Ill be talknig about next. You can tell Ricky is ready for the regular season, just itching to show that he can prove his worth in the league.Williams rushing really created a spark for the fins and the crowd everytime he broke a tackle or made a guy miss
-Jalen Parmele>looking like a NFL runningback in the game.He had a 80 yard run, that looked liek it went all the way...till number 31 came and got him...still,he showed real nice burst and speed on Saturday.Jalen just might be the steal of the draft the way he's looking. He had a 2-yard TD run, that look like he was stopped...3 TIMES!!!....Although Jalen powered through the like to make it happen,Mauia came through behind him and pushed the ple, still, that would have happened if Jalen hadnt been moving his feet and keep driving. If Jalen can keep progress,he may last a very long time in this league, and might give Brown a run for his money if Brown cant keep healthy down the line.Anyway,Jalen looked more like a vet. then a rookie, and I'm real high on this guy.I think MIA mis gonig to have a hard time making a decision on who to kepe and who to let go.Some already penciled Jalen in as the third running back during TC alone, and some are coming to warmth with him now,but I always believed this guy could be somehting special when I watched tapes of him,and saw him on t.v.,I just thank god we have some FO people who KNOW talent, and trust me...Jalen not only has talent, just promise.MIA might have to keep 4 runningbacks..of course,I mean we might have to keep Cobbs, cause he has been a special teams ace,and can run pretty good.Jalens staus and potential is way to high to let go,and lets face it...Ronnie and Wicky already arent going anywhere...and not to mention Jalen has some special teams returning skills,so we very well might have to keep all 4 for them.Hilliard...I dont think will make the team, maybe PS,but I'm not even sure of that...this last game on thursday vs. New Orleans will probably be his last chance to show what he can do.He does,however...block well for a rookie RB.
WR&TE-Ted Ginn Jr.>was awesome...He had 3 catches from Pennignton, and looked very fluid, and penetrared enemy lines...speaking of Kansas City of course. He also had a 59-yrad punt return for a TD.He caught the ball way right of the field, worked hsi way to the left, and once he did that, you knew it was over.Ginn is really starting to show the number 1 ability of being a WR here in MIA
-Davone Bess>seemed liek he was always open.I think he had 3-4 catches. He was returning a kick, but lost contorl of it and it went out of bounds in Dolphisn territory.Still, looked very well in the slot, well,I dont think he played the slot,he was an otu WR witht eh secodn string...Still,strong showing, and he had a catch over the middle that I really like from him,and he has great awareness, cause he made a sideline catch from Henne, that you HAVE to adjust to and make the catch and get both feet in bounds,he did great.
-Derek Hagan>he wasnt impressive, but he wasnt a dunce either...He didnt get many opportunities to showcase himself, but at elast he didnt drop the ball
Greg Camorillo&Wilford&Armstrong&Jayson Foster>Camorillo was not offensively used in this game, but was outstand in the special teams.I think thats one of the BIG reasons he's stil lon the team.I remember a hit from Saturday when Savage was running to the left sideline,Camorillo said "no!" and popped him one...that was a GOOD hit.I think Camorillo makes the team, based on his special teams play, whcih is pretty key.Wilford was again...invisble.He really wasn't bein used, but then again, thats his own fault.MIA wants to give the ball to its recievers, but not if their only going to stare at it while it make its way to them, and say opps when it bounces of his hands and lands on the ground.Armstrong shoed real heart. He got knocked the hell out on special teams, and still came back to play.On offense,I dont think he did much, other than stretch the feild for his teammates.I think he is on the fence...if he doesnt have a good game next week,he could e gone, but the Phins really liek him,so i think they'll give hima chance.Jayson Foster didnt do anything.Parcells loved im outta college...He even called him in after the draft himself, but man has he let Parcells down so far.I really do think he might be gone, more than anyother WR on the team,he's just not showing us what we intended after the youtube video of his(which was awesome by the way).Justin Peele had a TD called back, and 2 palys later Fasano got the TD...The TD...without a doubt...should have been Peeles, but from then on Peele had been a disappointment,he might be cut,he had a penelty on a punt, that would have been MIA football, cause after Fields punted it,one of the DB's caused a fumbled, but a penelty on Peele messed it up.Sparano wont like what he sees of Peeles overall perfromance
OL-Jake Long was good.He didnt give up a sack, and had some good running plays to his side by Pennignton and Williams. He needs to get better at not falling for the defenders position.Jake needs to understand if the defender is far back, dont run after him, cause you expose yourself, and its basically an easy sack.It didnt happen this game, but thats one of the things I keep seeing from him. He'll get better as the regualr season goes on.But he played like a number 1 overall player is supposed to play.Justin Smiley was awesome.Even though he is a RG playing left,he still make the adjustment. He may need some more time to fully grasp it,but he is so coming on in the role.Samson Satele was good...as always, and I feel he cna be a pro-bowl C this season.Donald Thomas...this guy was a beast.Didnt even look like a rookie.Even when he's defender wasn't bull rushing,he still pushed him,and was real tough against anyone moing towards time.Right now,I dotn a 6ht pick from THIS DRAFT ahs been more impressive...mayeb Colt Brennan, but Thomas EVEN more so,cause he wasnt even expected to make it in the NFL,and look at him now...Vernon Carey...when has he NOT performed well???
DEFENSE:
DL-Philip Merling>he was good. Was a big part of third down stops, including a fourth down goal-line stuff that he helped make happen. He may not start the season, but he'll start sometiem this season...count on it.Randy Starks...all this guy does is rush.I have yet to see this guy take a play off this Pre-Season,I like him alot, and he is only 24,his potential is light years high.Vonnie Holliday was good.He didnt stat up like others, but his role this game was the guy, behind the guy...if you know what I mean....Kendall Langford was cool, his role was just like Vonnie's,only he was more effective...even though he didnt get the "stats".Jason Ferguson was cool,he was real exposive, even for a 34-year old DT.I like the way this DL is looking, maybe give them 1 or 2 mroe years, and your looking at probably the best or one of the best 3-4 DL's in the AFC.
ILB-Reggie Torbor>was awesome. He was all over the place, and quite frankly,I think this guy will be a sleeper than no own is really talking about, but once regular season starts,I think people are gonig to see just who fortunate we are to have him.Channing Crowder was outstanding.Even being knocked down,he got back up and caused a fumble on Croyle(who by the way I think isn't a starting QB in the NFL).He also ahd 5 tackles and a sack. This dude just might get his new contract, and maybe even a bonus if he can make the Pro-Bowl,which I think is possible.Akin Adoyele was cool, was kinda hanging back, but nonetheless had 3 tackles. He didnt have a problem being the guy on the side while Crowder light it up,but he still made a presence, just wasnt as "spotlighted".
OLB-Matt Roth>I wil lbe the first to admitt that I stand corrected.I was the first one to say that Roth doesnt have what it take to be a "quality" OLB.He made plays liek crazy. You could definately feel his wraith and presence. He bull rushed and made the Cheifs squibble.I think he just might have found his comfort zone, and a roster spot, cause let face it,if he didnt have a good game,he probably would have gotten cut.Joey Porter wasnt supposed to play, but word got out that this might be his last chance to get a leg in there, cuase ht elast Pre-Season game is always the "take it easy" game, when the 1 string only plays a couple series or a quater, but MIA might let the 1st string play 2 quaters, just to get ready for the Jets game, but they also dont wanna lose nad playerf ro that game,so more than likely the 1st string will be coming off at least after the first quater, maybe a quayer and a half if things are clicking.Quetin Moses had a penelty on him that was pretty and backtracked the D,but other than that he was rushing and gushing, was an odd man out this game but mayeb he can do somehting next week...he's not getting cut...that much is clear.
DB's-Jason Allen>he was that good today.Yes he had a pick, but he even said himself in an article I posted earlier of him saying he "should" have had at least 4-5 pick in that game alone. He at least got one,but thats not helping yourself when the regular season rolls around...Chris Crocker was god.Got his head in there and made some plays, and got our other DB's hyped up,and played well on coverage, and didnt let up on the Cheifs receivers...Will Allen was a guy that was just there...but he didnt allow anything "TOO" big,and thats all you can ask form your starting corners...to play good coverage, and thats what he did.Lehan was awesome,he didnt even look liek he was comnig off a foot inury. He had an INT and returned it 28 yards down the left sideline.Goodman...didnt see much of him, dont even know if he played, shoudl hae, guess I wasnt paynig attention...lol,but the way the Kansas City QB's couldnt find any receivers down field,I'd say everyoen palyed, and played well for that.Reynaldo Hill was awesome,he was in on plys mroe than I can count,i cant even comment anymore..lol
PK-Carpenter>do I honestly HAVE to say anymore?
P-Fields>he was outstanding,it just seemed like someone shot off a round of clips of a gun when Filds booted it.His endzone punt was awesome...both time he kicked it over 55 yards.
special teams was probably the best its been in a LONG time...everyone played well..both of kick return, punt return and on defensive kick return and punt return...
