This is an article in the Cleveland plain dealer basically talking about how miserable Andersons performance had been in the second half of the season, and what he would have done come playoff time.

an excerpt:
"With literally an all-star supporting cast in the Pro Bowl, Anderson misfired for 16 incompletions in 26 passes, had one pass intercepted and one interception dropped."

Again, I don't want him, I'd rather take my chances with someone else as QB, be it Beck, or someone we draft...

I don't want to trade any picks for a QB, I'm sick of getting burned by doing so.

But I will say this, Anderson's miserable 2nd half was still a way better half than any QB we have had here since Jay Fiedler.

He definitely cooled off towards the end of the season as defenses began to gameplan around him. But it is unfair to say that he would have choked in the playoffs too, and to judge a guy based on his performance in the pro-bowl is absurd.

I would like to see him as a Dolphin, but not for anywhere near the price the Browns are asking. I think our third rounder alone would be adequate compensation.

As a side note, does anyone else think that he looks exactly like a cross between Eli Manning and Big Ben in that pro-bowl photo?

I actually thought it was rothlisberger at first....

I know that with the Pro Bowl one really can't judge the players too much, but didn't the other QBs who participated all lead TD drives, and have QB rating near 100 or greater?

Anderson played the entire second half and leads two field goal drives when Manning and Rothlisberger got the AFC to a 24-7 half time lead.

If he can't lead a Pro Bowl offense in a game that favors the offense on a TD drive, then how could he do that with our current offensive state?

You can certainly say that Derek Anderson's play in the pro-bowl was horrible compared to every other QB in the game and I think that shows that Anderson isn't the type of QB that's gonna come in and grasp a system right away and play effectively. It took him a few years in Cleveland just to get to where he was last year which was inconsitent.

IMO,Anderson wouldn't beat out Beck, in TC next year, if he was on this team.

We can find a back-up without giving up anything.

Note: Anderson was teaching Manning and Rothlisberger the offense as it was close to what he ran in Cleveland. Apparently he didn't listen to himself.....and supposedly he called in some plays to Ben during his couple of drives

If they want to get rid of him already, it is just more of the same for us - someone elses garbage. No thanks

You don't think his poor performance at the Pro Bowl has anything to do with having less than a week of practice with the players? Remember, Anderson was Brady's replacement after Tom opted out after the Super Bowl because of his ankle injury...and his hurt pride. :winkwink:

He just finished his second year.

You guys forget to mention the weather conditions he played in the last few games, under heavy snow and rain vs the Bills and Bengals. Of course he didn't have great games in the end.

....and these same people give Beck a free pass for playing in those conditions, even though Beck was 10X worse.

I was gonna say it might not be too bad of an idea to trade for Anderson. My thinking on the issue the past couple days has been if we traded for Anderson, his contract probably would not be comparable to the one we would give Ryan (if we draft him). My thought was if we are going to spend a pick on a QB, we would be in a better position to trade for Anderson, who has experience, and did pretty well overall this season, compared to a player who has no experience and whom we would have to give 35 million to. From that standpoint, Anderson would be the safer bet, but I dont know, after seeing his performance in the pro bowl (which he only got in by default), and the last couple games of the season (especially against Cincy), I dont know. We would be taking a chance on either... I just dont think it is a good idea spending a 1st on Ryan, a player nowhere near worthy of the 1st overall selection, but then again, given Andersons recent performances, he isnt worthy of a 1st and a 3rd so in that sense, Im torn either way...

AND WATCH THE BASHING, THIS IS NEITHER A FOR NOR AGAINST ANDERSON POST I AM BEING OBJECTIVE EITHER WAY

..BUT he also had a miserable final 3 games against marginal competition - Buffalo, Cinci and SF (57, 53 and 75 QB ratings) so that makes 4 poor games in a row including this creampuff one.

Anyone who's ready to excuse or explain away this One-Year-Wonder's most recent performances while condemning Beck and his 62 QB rating under considerably more adverse circumstances is just not being consistent!

If you take the sacks into account, as well as the fumbles lost, Anderson's adjusted QB rating is very similar to his actual QB rating. Beck was substantially worse than what his QB rating indicated.

Tom Brady: 110.3*
David Garrard: 94.90*
Peyton Manning: 94.04
Tony Romo: 92.11
Ben Roethlisberger: 90.53*
Brett Favre: 89.97
Jeff Garcia: 87.95
Drew Brees: 84.97
Carson Palmer: 82.85
Matt Hasselbeck: 82.33
Jay Cutler: 81.45
Derek Anderson: 80.67
Kurt Warner: 80.56
Sage Rosenfels: 79.59
Donovan McNabb: 79.04
Chad Pennington: 78.05
Matt Schaub: 78
Philip Rivers: 73.85
Trent Green: 73.75
Vince Young: 71.78
Jason Campbell: 69.19
Cleo Lemon: 67.02
John Beck: 42.85*

*=QB kneels are included

Also, the term "one year wonder" is usually reserved for those that have been in the NFL for a good 5-10 (atleast). Derek Anderson is actually 2 years younger than our "QB of the future".
