explain how we will win 10 games with a garbage O-line.

Even Dan the man wouldnt be able to throw behind this line, and while chad has improved, he still has zero ability to escape a rush and his scrambling is laughable.

Also our rushing game is NONEXISTENT just like last year when people were blaming ricky and ronnie. When the running backs are continually being hit in the backfield you have an oline issue.

Without a fix to that right side we are not gonna do ANYTHING this season.

I was at the game, i watched as henne had zero time to do anything. I watched our RBS get hit in the backfield. Matt moore everyones hero from a few weeks ago fared no better with our second line vs their scout team. Why does it seem that everyone besides long is garbage...

Tony the supposed oline coach cant make an oline AGAIN.

So tell me, especially the people voting 10 wins, how do we get their with this oline?

What I do is this: I HOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT from the O-line, better play, timing in zone blocking, better schemes that we maybe haven't seen yet in preseason. Also, quick passes and screens with guys like Bush, Marshall and Bess could go a long way in slowing a pass rush. I guess I hope for the best. Stranger things have happened.

The O-lines biggest problem so far is run-block, at worst, their pass-blocking has been incocnsistant, Henne improves, receivers drop few passes, and with the defense we will have this year we will get close to 9-10 win.

The thing is though, this O-line is not the O-line that the Pats will see come the regular season. Big Jake is coming back, and expect Miami to at the very least get 1 more starter by trade, or picking up from the cuts coming up. Hopefully Miami is able to bring in Gurode, that would solve a great deal of problems on the Line.

I was disapointed we didn't see more quick passing to offset the Tampa pass rush.

While it IS only preseason, Henne's scrambling and escapability have improved quite a bit. I know you said you were at the game, but did you even watch it? What about the week before? Did you not see Henne escape the pocket MULTIPLE times for good runs?

Yeah, the o-line got schooled ... IN ONE PRESEASON GAME. Why don't you wait and see how the season unfolds before smashing the "I-told-you-so" button like a desperate junkie on a morphine dispenser.

There was one screen to Bush that seemed to be set up nicely. Unfortunately, he didn't catch it.

people need to step off the ledge, we haven't played a game yet (that matters). calm down. camps will wind down, guys get released, there are still possible moves to be made.

Your posting has been terrible...

Henne's scrambling is far from laughable; I will agree he needs to work on scrambling with his head up, so he still can throw downfield; this is only a problem when he goes forward though; I do like his ball security when he scrambles, and when he gets running he has decent straightline speed. He does well when moving side to side or on rollouts.

But more importantly to your point; our O Line will not be as much of a problem as your predicting, there is a reason why having a franchise left tackle is so highly coveted; having someone who can dominate the league's best past rushers on his own does wonders for the rest of the line. Not to mention Big Jake is also a plow in run blocking and can cave in an entire side of the defensive line.

So stop jumping to doom and gloom based on watching an offensive line without it's best player. Once big 77 is back in there doing his thing we'll be fine. Pouncy looks good; and I'm sure the right side will get figured out.

edit: oh and how is our running game NONEXISTENT? Are you basing that on our game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers d line that has drafted first round defensive lineman studs the past two years? HINT: they're pretty good; I could see their front line being alot like what minnesota had before the Williams wall began declining....
Our running game was pretty EXISTENT against Carolina. Fact is, in the NFL certain defenses are good enough to take away certain things from the offense and what a good offenses can do to combat this, is take advantage of what the defense is giving them; in our case we did well passing the ball, attacking the middle of the field aerially, which is the soft spot in the Tampa 2 defense.
So please before you make another doom and gloom post, use a little perspective and think logically. Otherwise, just sit on your couch and keep the dumb comments to yourself and whoever is unfortunate enough to be in your presence.

The idea that Dan Marino couldnt perform well with this OL is just ridiculous.

well oline or not, teams have made it to superbowls with worse than ours.

I disagree. If Carey and Colombo went into the season as starters they'd be among the worst -- if not the worst -- RG and RT in football. They'd certainly be the worst right side in the league. Slimm went so far to say that Colombo is the worst offensive lineman he's ever seen in a Dolphins uniform, which I thought was a distinction Jeff Buckey would hold -- unchallenged -- until the Sun went nova.

The offensive lines I believe you're referencing are the Packers' and Steelers' winning lines. I would agree those were average -- at best -- offensive lines. But I watched those teams throughout their seasons and they were both far more sound than ours has been this preseason. Rodgers' and Roethlisberger's tendency to hold on the ball and scramble around made them look worse than they were, imo.
