For those that think Gholston is so "explosive"...

Did you see how fast that QB was if he got in the open field noone would catch him. Have you not seen Penn St play he is fast. Thats like saying Peppers and Taylor arent explosive cause they cant catch Mike Vick. Dont get me wrong im not criticizing u cause I dont really want Gholston. I would like in this order Long-McFadden-Gholston but Gholston is def quick and real talented and would def make a difference. I dont think we take Long or Gholston unless we trade Taylor or Porter

OOOO you got us lmao... Are you being serious? Gholston has run down faster QB's and RB's see in this video

And in that one play Gholston beat a double team, came all the way around and flushed the QB out of the pocket but no one else was there. Not even bringing up the fact that he's a fast QB and QB's usually have fresher legs than LBs/DEs

So I guess this was another bout of lazyness then? If he has ran down faster guys before, he must have quit on that play...


The guy from Penn st was fast, but apparently gholston is unbeatable! I'm convenced having seen a few highlight videos on youtube... :rolleyes:

His job is to SACK the qb. NOT "flush" him out for a 10 yd gain.

Wow thanks I never knew that... Gholston is such a lazy, loser he only beat a double team and broke up the play and had the other guys on the team done their job it would have been a sack. You obviously know so much about football.

Thanks for showing me another play that shows what a force Gholston can be on defense.

did you see the qbs speed? that wasn't no 4.8 speed for a QB buddy. he pulled 10 yards sure but the last 5-7 yards was insane speed for a QB not named VIck.

and for ur info the point of a DE/LB is to put pressure as well and that is putting pressure which lead to him running out of the play designed so you tell me how 10 other guys inablity to tackle him is 1 mans fault named Gholston? horrible just horrible excuse. lmaoo esp to base your OPINION off of 1 play?

Funny, cause everyone seems to base an opinion of JLong on that gholston play right? Whats the differnce?


And no, I dont have an opinion of gholston off of that one play. But there are some here that seem to think that gholston spends the whole game hanging off the QBs shirt. Thats just not the case. They also seem to think that no other player can hold a candle to him...

I wouldnt be the least bit upset if gholston was picked on draft day. I think he is the best way to go IF we go DEFENSE. I just think there are better options out there. One that fill a greater need for this team. I just get sick of the youtube videos showing the same plays over and over and over and over again, and having them lauded as proof of a guys future success. Just letting some jaded individuals know that it's not all hugs and sunshine.

So you see my point! Finally... One video does not a prospect make. Can we please judge these guys based of their mesurable merits?

No one is judging anyone on one video, but a video can be used to show a prospects strengths and weakness. Every scout has brought up Jake's athleticism and footwork to possibly be a cause for concern with him as a LT so that Gholston video shows an example of his bad footwork and balance.

that is true but from what I hear is that Long wasnt playing in a scheme to take advantage of his strenghts. he was playing in the wrong scheme is what i hear.

I see your point 100%. With beck there are videos of passes hes made we haven't seen since Dan retired but they look at the 4 fumbles that the O LINE caused but they blame on Beck. makes no sense. i agree wiht you 100% how ppl are blinde to the fact of things. that play GHOL did ABUSE long as harvey did as well but once he figured out their BULL RUSH he adjusted. thats the good thing about Long. He holds his grounds and doesnt get beat twice from what i hear.
