--General manager Jeff Ireland was asked recently if the Dolphins have a true No. 1 receiver.

"It is Teddy (Ginn Jr.), it's (Greg) Camarillo. Those are the receivers that are No. 1 and No. 2 or No. 2 or No. 1 right now. We obviously need to upgrade a lot of positions and receiver is a position that we need some depth at for sure."

Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement to get a big name at WR. have at it. I am sure there will be many reasons why I am wrong here.

think smokescreen there ok...Ireland isn't dumb,he isn't going to come out and say...no,we don't have a true number 1 WR,and we need one...he'll say one thing and just might go in a different direction than what he said...so for right now,or for me at least,if Jeff Ireland says something,i'm gonna be thinking smokescreen until next saturday when we start making our picks...

I'm sure most of us know what he said in his Per Draft Press Conference 15 DAYS AGO.

You can take his words anyway you want, but obviously we are going to draft a WR that will become the pillar of our offense :) :) :)

I take his words to say "we obviously need to upgrade at a lot of positions" as ----> We think we can get a guy who will be more productive than Ted Ginn in the fifth round while we upgrade our pass rush, CB depth, and interior Linemen.

Sounded like he was just trying to be nice about it. We definitely need a receiver in this year's draft. Wether that will come in the first or the last round, is yet to be seen.

We damn sure attended alot of receiver workouts so I guess we are drafting a Qb lol

the thing is...I think we will be getting 10 more guys the day after the draft just like last year so get ready for another Devon Bess/Carpenter moment.

I would be perfectly happy after watching video of Johnny Knox to just get him and a few FA's because there will be guys we have looked at who dont make the draft.

Then to me, the best smokescreen was done a long time ago when they said they are happy with our WR's and leave it at that. Some articles point to this very fact. I also noticed that we are looking for WR who get seperation. I am not sure who that is in this draft at pick 25.

The Dolphins have either interviewed or brought in 21 CB's... 19 WR's... 19 OLB's and 12 OT'S.

Those are the top positions....and one would imagine the Dolphins are looking hard at those positions.

Of those 71 players...these are rated either a 1st rounder or border line first rounder;

WR...Harvin, Nicks, DHB and Britt.

CB'S...Sean Smith, Butler and Davis

OLB...Matthews, English, M. Johnson, E. Brown, Sintim, Maybin and Barwin.

OT...Oher, Britton and Loadholt.

Unless someone that hasn't been interviewed but is still wanted by the Dolphins brass falls to them at 25...one of the players mentioned above will be the selection at 25.

Last but least...every position is of need...don't let the record of last season fool you...this team was and is STILL rebuilding, for the future.

So pick who you believe will be the most value at 25 and enjoy!

Excellent post. Unfortunately alot of Phin fans cant seem to comprehend your 2nd to last sentence. This following season will be a wakeup call for many I believe, at least the ones calling for 11-5.

Does anyone else remember that " Freudian slip" last year when people were asking who Miami would draft with the first pick and Ireland "accidentally" let it slip that "defense" was their concentration"? I pray they are using the same tactic to get someone "special".

Ya, Ive pointed it out to all the Beck supporters who keep throwing the Ireland "we have 3 terrific qb's on our roster quote." Dont forget when the play of LOBO was raved about in TC, then he was traded 2 weeks later to the Eagles lol. Ya, Ireland should be taken at face value when he speaks. Bill Parcells Im sure instructs him to always be truthfull with media.

I am just hoping my dream comes true and that we actually draft Nicks and Smith. Then I will need a change of pants.

Would any of the people thinking we're gonna draft a receiver in the first round like to put a wager it? I don't think we'll draft a receiver in the first two rounds.
