For those wanting Miami to draft Matt Leinhart...

This afternoon ESPN's radio broadcast of the Dan Patrick show, Dan Patrick interviewed USC's Pete Caroll. Anyway Dan asked Pete Caroll who Matt Leinhart Reminded him of. He said he was most like Tom Brady, as far as arm strength, intellegence and mobility was concerned.

Pat then asked him to rate Matt Leinhart verses Cincinnati's Carson Palmer.
Pete Caroll said and I quote, that Carson palmer was a perfect QB, in terms of arm strength, size mechanic's, etc and in everyway possible." He said the he was and will be the finest QB to come out of College and enter into the NFL in a long time.

I guess Pete Caroll should know about these three QB's because he coached all three of them.

Just some info for all of you draktnicks out there...Personally I don't think he is as good as Brady was in school but those are my thoughts not his. I do remember wishing Miami would draft Brady when he came out of college though. Just my 2 cents though...

Matt Leinart reminds me of Kenny Stabler good accurate throws with perfect spiral on his passes.

I highly doubt you wanted Miami to draft Brady, i don't think anybody but Michigan fans knew enough about him to warrant any kind of attention.

If he isn't as good as Bardy in college then why is he going to be the #1 (or 2 depending on if Reggie Bush comes out and who picks first) overall pick in the draft while Brady fell to the 6th?

That's not true. Brady was a pretty well-known commodity during the draft. Everyone knew he was accurate enough, had a decent enough arm, and was a winner...a guy with great powers of concentration in the clutch.

They let him slip because he didn't have any physical tools that stood out at you. He still does not. He's not especially mobile. He doesn't have an arm that jumps out at you. He doesn't even necessarily have accuracy that jumps out at you. And, coming out of college, if I remember right he was skinny as a rail and folks were thinking there's no way the guy could withstand an NFL pounding.

Average arm, average accuracy, average height, below average size, with a lot of heart and great in the clutch? That still sounds like a 6th rounder to me, even knowing that Tom Brady does exist. NFL scouts got it wrong with him because they didn't count on him being able to bulk up to the point where not only could he withstand a pounding, but his arm is better than it was in college, and they also didn't count on him improving his accuracy by continuing to work at the QB position, didn't count on him just always making the right decisions in the clutch even when things are flying at double-speed.

I can't remember for certain how much of a following he had on the message boards, but judging from recent memory when so many guys just like Brady end up with their own bandwagon, I do not doubt there are a few people here who get the right to say "I wanted us to draft Tom Brady"

im sure if everyone knew how he would turn out he would have been the 1st pick

You can Highly doubt it all you want, I don't care but I know what I thought and you don't. And yes I am a Michigan fan besides being a canes fan as well. As far as I am concerned they have he best fight song going.

ud rather sign/trade for harringtonand draft o-line tyhan draft Lienart

I think the comparison to Brady is a pretty good one. They are both very intelligent, they have good field instincts ,are competetive and are accurate.

Neither is very mobile or have a great arm but its good enough for the NFL.
The big difference is that Brady was drafted in the 6th round and Leinart will be the first QB drafted.

Personally I think Leinart is the still the best QB in next years draft .

:yeahthat:

Marino didn't think that highly of Leinhart when they discussed him on Inside the NFL a couple of weeks back. Said his success would very much depend on the team that got him and the other personnel. Carter was very negative on him making it in the NFL.

Could the same be said about Brady?

if it wasn't for wiess brady never would be rated as highly as he is

brady is good cuz he has ONE HELL OF A TEAM. do you guys not see this, i do like Matt a lot and i do want him but i do have odubts because he is just like brady, around a very good/great team. Just like montana was. marino had a **** *** team and he made the tema who it was. He carried the team, prob. only player in any sport i cant think of that was capable of soemthng like that. You give Matt and Brady a team that is decent, they WONT be as "great" trust me.

your telling me the Pats offense is better than decent? their best OLineman is hurt. they had patrick pass starting at RB. a blocking TE, and 2 above-average WRs. Brady is one of the greatest QBs in the leagues history. take off your homer glasses.
