Why is it that myself and other season ticket holders can't find another fan to buy our seats for the games we can't make when we are offering them at over a 25% discount from what we paid for them, which ends up being about a 35% discount from indiv. game price?

This only applies to fans in FL, but for those who don't have season tix, it would seem to me you would jump all over the thought of getting into the stadium for what it costs to take your family to the movie theater in some cases.

I'm not trying to rip people apart as much as I am trying to understand this phenomenon and hear from the people who are from FL, relatively close to the stadium, don't have season tix and care a lot about our fan presence.

It's just really weird...

I have to kind of agree with you, im going to 2 games myself this year and im in canada, i was embarrased by the turnout of fans for our home opener against a division rival. Why is it that we cant fill the stadium, is it the heat? Is it the prices, other stadiums seemed packed by comparison and we are supposed to be contenders this year, i just dont get it

Oh man I'd jump on those if I lived anywhere near there :dolphins:

Unfortunately I'm in PA and rarely ever get to FLA.

Who cares if no one wants to buy your tickets. Maybe you should just try giving them away, that would be the better bargain. Also i'm tired of hearing all of you people complaning about the fan base. Sorry if we are not in Winscosin where all of the city closes down just to go watch the Packers.

Some of us would love to go and maybe even purchase your tickets, but their is something called work and a lot of us have to do that on sundays. I was a season ticket holder for 10 years and it was painfull to have to take a job that required me to work on sundays but i did because of the pay. I guess what i'm trying to say is that it's not because we don't support our team it's just the cards we were dealt.

I can't stand the fools that post those stupid threads about the fans not coming to the games. If it concerns you that much why don't you buy tickets for the hole city of MIAMI.

I guess you missed the part where I said I'm not ripping people, I just want to understand the why part. What are the circumstances that make people unable to go, especially when it is so cheap to do so? Is it apathy, or is it other concrete obligatons?

Sorry you felt the urge to attack an unarmed friend.

Like so many others 12man, if you don't like the posts, don't read them. However, in the rules of the board, personal attacks and name calling don't go over well with the administration. The poster did clearly state he wasn't ripping people, he was just trying to understand why.

Marinoesque13 - I have been a Dolphins fan for my entire life - I used to go to games with my great uncle down at the Organge Bowl every home game back in the late 60's and early 70's until I went in the service. From an observational point of view, things changed a lot when we moved out of the Orange Bowl to Joe Robbie. The fan base changed a lot to as more and more poeple moved down from up north - you'd see games where nearly 1/3 or maybe even 1/2 of those attending were rooting for the Bills or the Jets. As for your personal discount offerings, I suppose it has to do with where you are marketing your tickets!? IF it is continually here on this board and you don't get takers then I'd say you need to expand to other boards - especially those boards of the opposing team - that way we can yell in their ears during the game!

It is a sad thing. I live in long island new york and when I go to the meadowlands to see the dolphins vs. jets The stadium is filled and has about 95% jet fans.

Giant fans have a 15 year waiting list for season tickets.

Miami seems to be one of the few teams that don't have a huge fan base go to home games.

I dread giving up a seat to an opposing fan, and if I did, he definitely wouldn't get it for a discount. I market on a few boards, ebay, etc., which is partially why I'm interested in what's going on...it seems like there should be ample coverage to get exposure to a large enough number of fans.

I think the problem is that there are so many people who have moved down to Flordia (for work, great weather, etc) from alot of those north and northeast states. There are so many transplants in Florida, Its not like NY where those fans have lived there all their life. That, as well as there is so much more to do down there and because the weather is so good almost all year.

Probably a spread out fanbase and a city full of out of towners and retirees. That probably has something to do with it. Obviously Miami has a decent sized fanbase. They're making money somehow right? I live in Georgia therefore you won't likely see me at a game. But I love the Dolphins as much as anybody.

Ditto

Unfortunatley with the Dolphins mediocrity the last 10 years or so i really think people have lost interest in the team. Other than the old die hards who've been following the team since the glory days, what have the Dolphins done to really attract new fans. It's not like they have a player the caliber of Michael Vick or Ladanian Tomlinson in popularity, and lets face it it's not like we're ever a perennial super bowl favorite anymore. People in South Florida have lost interest, and it's really imperative that we pump some life back into this team.
