For those who blame this losing on Daunte, I just wanted to share some stats with you.

Daunte was 23 of 39 for 249 yards and a touchdown this week. Not huge numbers, but he isn't the reason we lost. That is a QB rating of 84.1. Much better than most QB's we have had in here.

So far on the season, Daunte has thrown for 929 yards, good enough for ninth in the league. To compare, Tom Brady is 16th and Carson Palmer is 11th. Again, not astounding numbers, but solid.

Statistically, Matt Hesslebck, Steve McNair and Drew Bledsoe have worse QB ratings than Daunte (along with other less notables).

In fact, for the season, Daunte is on pace for 3,700 yards passing and is completing 60% of his passes. Teams like New England, Baltimore, Carolina, Minnesota, Denver, Pittsburgh and St. Louis are below in terms of completion percentage.

Daunte isn't playing awful. He isn't carrying the team, but he isn't the reason we are losing. Probably the biggest stat is the 21 sacks through 4 games. Oakland is second with 19. Houston is third with 15 (thanks in large part to our defense).

By contrast, Miami gave up 26 sacks all of last year.

Daunte is just not getting the time to pass. When he does, he is moving the ball down the field effectively enough.

The real problem has to do with our offensive line not playing any type of football but bad and Mike Mularkey making some questionable play calls in critical times (the two point conversion comes to mind).

I guess my point is this. Before blaming Daunte for the teams woes, we need to take a look at some stats and realize that the blame shouldn't be placed solely on him.

Houston is the worst defense in the NFL. They gave up 98 points and over 480 yards per game in their first 3 games. The second to last ranked defense in the NFL (Tennesee) gave up 100 yard less per game than Houston.

McNabb had a 113.3 rating against Houston. Manning had 129.3 rating against Houston. And Mark Brunells was 119.3 against Houston.

Our first four opponents have a 4-11 record (3 of those wins coming from us.) Culpepper's passer rating of 77.0 is 23rd in the NFL right now and that's while playing Houston and Tennessee the 31st and 32nd ranked defenses.

I'm a fan since 1971. This team sucks. I won't quit watching and sporting my Dolphins gear each Sunday at Hoops Bar and Grill in Louisville, KY, but I am realistic and realize this team is horrible. We aren't going to bench Daunte because he is supposedly the future of this team, but, in my opinion, he is a washed up, overrated, running QB with no mobility. He is not a pocket passer, isn't good at reading defenses, takes way too long to get rid of the ball, and just plain makes too many bad plays. The Dolphins will never be a good team with this guy leading the offense. Until Saban realizes he's made a major mistake betting the future on this guy, there are no winning seasons on the horizon.

diane keeps posting that .. and i don't believe is capable of typing anything else. ANyone with half a brain .. or even less could come up with their own points... and as i said in another post.

They are on different teams, different players, diff play styles, diff plays.

These are professional players regardless of the team and know what they are doing. It's not like they are playing a peewee team.

You are obviously just another bandwagon kid who joined the board after seeing the Dolphins were great on paper. You must have ha da serious mental breakdown when that wasnt the case. You know nothing of the game and it shows.

I guess some of those Dallas fans of the early 90's just found their way to our board.

Any quarterback in the NFL can have a decent game against last ranked Houston, Daunte proved that on Sunday.

and any great qb can have a very bad game against a very bad defense.

Culpepper did things in that game no other qb would have been able to pull off. End of story.

They are valid points... we have played teams that are HORRIBLE, and lost to them. What does that say about the Dolphins?

look at the td throw, he had to take a shot just to get the ball off in time

he was pressured from play 1

it is not dauntes fault, yeah he did make a bad play by throwing to at a double cover near the end zone

but every qb in the league tries a risky pass once in a while

daunte haters, think that if we put in the godly joey harrington all our offensive problems will be fixed

the oline will magically get better, all the penalties will stop, not running the ball wont matter

our corners will shut down qb's

it is a joke

Daunte isn't doing his job and that causes a lot of the OL problems. He isn't reading the defenses, getting the ball out fast enough, finding the open receiver, hitting the open receivers, or running when he has an open lane. If he isn't doing his job, we need to try someone else. Maybe they won't fare better, but heck, we're 1-3 at this point and sinking fast.

Culpepper needs to ride the bench because he:

COULDNT PUT UP POINTS AGAINST THE WORST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE

COULDNT GET A DRIVE GOING UNTIL THE LAST TWO MINUTES (we need a QB that can play 60 minutes, not two)

WILL WIN US GAMES.

So far, that's not Culpepper. At least frerotte won us games.

I used to drive the bandwagon supporting C-Pep. But unlike our coaching staff, I see that given 4 games, a quarter of a season, Culpepper is not getting it done.

We scrap the season if we keep him in. That's all there is to it. Look at the vikings last year, putting in Brad Johnson after Pep's injury finally got them moving.

Thats what we need right now.

LOL you are right what were we thinking...... daunte is doing an excellent job.... how he completes those 5 yard dump passes to ronnie brown .. WHO KNOWS... its simply amazing i mean i just LOVE having him leading our team this season... hes doing a GREAT job

then again those dump passes to ronnie n wes are actually getting more yardage because ..... RONNIE AND WES ARE BEASTS. daunte throws it 5 yards.... wow.... ronnie and whoever else run the ball for 15.... Without a solid running back and solid recievers daunte is nothing.

Thats like saying brunell is the best qb in the league ... i mean come on how bad can you be when you have clinton portis, chris cooley, santana moss, R- El, and b lloyd????Daunte is nothing without star players ( just look at last season)...... Come on im tired of these Culpepper excuses. I'll give credit when its due.... Tell daunte to win some games then come back and tell us how good he is.

And by the way, the guy above me is a genius because he actually gets whats going on here ... BRING BACK A WINNER TO MIAMI... AKA BRING BACK FREROTTE... i dont care how bad he was last year... throw me whatever stats you want.... just make sure you show me OUR RECORD LAST YEAR.

dont bother defending him, its pointless. u just have to do like me and wait til he lights things up, then everyone will jump ship:cooldude:

Not reading blitz? hmmm then why so many dump offs to welker in the slot? aka our hot read.

our recievers have been running very BASIC routes... and are easily covered... add in the fact we keep more in to protect... so we are covered even more easily.

find open reciever? Hes running for his life before our recievers are out of their break.

running? he hasnt had anywhere to run and when he did he ran for a td.
