Marvin Lewis: Chad stays here

Mike Zimmer wasn't the only topic of conversation Wednesday at Paul Brown Stadium. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis also made it clear that the team is not going to trade wide receiver Chad Johnson.

Johnson, in a national radio interview Friday, said he felt unappreciated and that no member of the Bengals organization defended him when trade rumors swirled, and he hinted he would welcome a trade if he indeed were a problem.

"He didn't say anything different - that he was unduly chastised for being this or that," Lewis said Wednesday. "He's going to go back and be a pro and go forward and play. As I said then, there will be no trade of Chad Johnson. Repeat it again."
Asked if he were concerned about Johnson's attitude, Lewis said, "I can't control that. That doesn't mean anything to me right now. He's a special player and he's a Cincinnati Bengal for quite a while."

Lewis was asked if there would be more changes on his coaching staff besides Zimmer's hire as defensive coordinator and a replacement for the fired Ricky Hunley as linebackers coach.

"Possibly," Lewis said...

Heh could be bluffing to raise the price. Either way, it seems if he is getting traded it wont be cheap, time to find another option :)

They won't trade now but if a team dangles a juicy draft pick, they'll sure to bite.

I never believe ANYTHING a coach or gm says about a player when the draft or draft picks are involved. I think this is just a way to drive up CJ's market value.

Would have been sick to get ocho cinco, o well.

Of course he will say that, he isn't going to come out and say "Chad has worn out his welcome and we are looking to trade him." I still believe we will hear about many trade rumors this off-season regarding Chad Johnson.

Yeah, the guy from Profootballtalk.com (Mike?) was on Rome yesterday and said that it makes complete sense for the Bengals to trade Johnson since he doesn't want to be there, especially considering the problems that the organization is having.

He said, and Rome agreed, that he's probably just putting that out there so that people don't think that they can just steal Chad the way that the Pats stole Randy Moss with a much lower pick than he's worth.
