I read that Miami should have run more especially with R&R. Or terrible play calling, just like last year.

Miami will continue to be skewed toward passing or appear to abandon the pass if they can not move the chains by making a short pass when needed and/or when they are behind at end of games.

In preseason, the team was able to move the chains and continue drives which means more carries for R&R, whether by pass or scramble.

It's all about moving the chains.

Miami has been doing this for years and will take more than one game to turnaround, but I believe the corner will be turned this year.

The Jets stuffed the run game, thats why it was abandoned. They tried to run,but it was stopped for little or no gain time after time. The Jets did a nice job against the run yesterday. That is the weakness that Penny brings with him to your offense.Teams can load up against the run and not fear being made to pay with Penny's weak arm.Jenkins was a monster all day though,so I don't think it would have mattered much who the QB was yesterday.

Our oline did not allow any room to run at the start either. I hope it is just going to come down to the Jets have a good team and not that our oline is in for another year of refinement.

We had roughly 50 yards in the 1st half, and I think that 100 yds on the ground is a reasonable game. I agree with moving the chains, but our running game was moving us forward. You can't give up on it.

Miami will run the ball all day...when they can run the ball effectively. You call the plays based off whats working. You don't literally run into a wall, thats not gonna get you anywhere.

Your team is vastly improved from last season,as is the Jets. You will have a lot of success this season so don't be discouraged by yesterday.I believe the Jets have a team that is gonna surprise people this year and so do the Dolphins.I do think the heat became a factor late in the game as it looked like our pass rush really slowed.Thankfully we held on before we ran out of gas. Some guys who moved to Miami from NY almost 20 years ago that I talked to said it was the hottest football game they have ever attended. That being said,I think both teams played hard till the end.Nothing to hang your heads about at all.

When we can run the ball effectivly, we'll run it more. Right now, we still can't run the ball effectively. A run first team must play solid defense.

Class post sir.

Ehh, I still think we abandoned the run game a little too early. Did we panick because we were trailing by a couple touchdowns in the 2nd half...maybe.

But 16 carries? Isn't this the same thing we talked about after the skins game last year?

Let's just be happy that even though our run game got stuffed, our pass game managed to be respectable. That's one thing we haven't been able to say in a while.

The Jets shut down the running game very well. Henning has got to adjust the offensive scheme better, our first half performance cost us that game,

I'm just happy youre not a fins coach! Re-read your post please.. especially that first sentence...has to be this years best in restating the freakin obvious...I guess the converse is "miami will pass the ball all day...when they can pass the ball effectively...":lol:

Just cause a coach says something doesn't make it wrong all the time. Coaches have to state the obvious, cause reporters ask stupid questions.

Reporter: "Why didn't you run the ball coach?"

Coach: "Cause it wasn't working"

See?

If you have the ball inside the 9 yard line and you KNOW that you're going to go for it on 4th down, then I think you should at least run it twice. They passed on every down when they got in there & came away with nothing.
