Here is some rumors around the NFL about players. One of them is David Carr, whom along with me some people on here have some interest in him.

They talk about the $ issue and his bonus.

Here is the link.

It would be nice for him to be on the market.

Can you provide a few quotes from the article for those that dont have insider?

Well, he fits the style. That's about as much as I can say about him. I don't like though that getting him would mean we're tie our fortunes to him for a few years.

Sure will, give me a moment and I'll quote them for those who don't have insider.

Texans unsure on Carr
<Dec. 17> The Texans have not decided whether they will pick up the $8 million option necessary to extend Carr's contract through 2008, the Houston Chronicle reports. The Texans don't have to make the decision until the last game of the NFL season -- the Pro Bowl in this case. Expect them to make it much sooner.

Texans owner Bob McNair maintains he will be making the decision, but the team recently added Dan Reeves as a consultant, and Reeves should have some input.

"I can be anywhere next year," Carr said. "I think anyone on this team can be anywhere next year. "I'd like to stay here. I enjoy it. I think the people that it matters to the most, the people who have talked to me about it, I have no reason for concern. So that being said, I'm just going to go out and keep playing ball."

Here is the quote on David Carr.

Woh! The thought of him in aqua and orange, oooh...

That Carr has the wheels to take us to the house!

But, then again, I don't see it happening. Call me a pessimist if you wish, but we tend not to land the big ones.

David car would fit the mold for this offense. Big, strong armed, and mobile qb who can throw the deep ball when given some time. Bring him over I am all for it.

Carr is staying in TExtown they said it on the game yest that Mcnair will keeep him and dan reeves loves him. Reggie Bush will be the featured back in Houston and Domanick Davis will find work elsewhere perhaps Zona or philly

I don't necessarily agree with that. I think he will be available and won't cost as much as lets say Drew Brees or Philip Rivers. He hasn't put up the #'s to warrant a ton of $. Also we could pick up a young guy in the draft to groom like Omar Jacobs. Someone that would be ready to take the reigns after a couple of years. Unless Carr pulls a Brees on us then we have a win win kind of like the Chargers.

Wouldn't that be a good position to be in?

You think they'll draft Reggie Bush? They just gave Davis a $22million deal. Why would they draft Bush? Also who is going to block for Bush or Carr or Leinart? They are in desperate need of O-line. their O-line coach Tony Wise or asst. o-line coach is just horrible.

Are you saying that if we do land Carr, we should spend a 1 or 2 on Jacobs as well? We have a lot of pressing needs: OL, DB, maybe PK, and I would think given age, DL.

Carr Needs an O line to play good and our O line has improved, and we san still pick up better O lineman with the money we will have, so it seems that Carr might come here, I wouldnt mind.

If for some reason Omar Jacobs is a 1st round pick I'd be surprised. His stock has been dropping like a rock. I think he can be picked in the 3rd round of the draft. He needs some work yes, but after a couple of years of work and grooming. He could definetely be a good pick.

If we were able to get Carr, I would love to have Michael Huff CB Texas playing with us next year. Move Daniels to FS. In the 2nd round we could pick up one of these OT's that are available. Eric Winston's stock has been dropping but seems to be a pretty good tackle. Maybe a guy like Daryn Colledge from Boise St. would be wonderful in the 2nd round if he falls there.

I suppose grabbing Carr would be like grabbing a younger Kerry Collins. But keep in mind, that's all it would be.
