Dolphins | Team not pursuing Ashworth heavily
Fri, 17 Mar 2006 21:46:32 -0800
Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports free agent OL Tom Ashworth (Patriots) will continue to seek other suitors as the Miami Dolphins have not pursued him since Wednesday, March 15. "There's plenty of talk, but not a deal," agent Tom Mills said about the Dolphins. "It'll probably be into Monday before we have something (with one of a number of teams.) The Dolphins have not been very aggressive, so I'm not sure they're a player."

Dosent look good... I knew we were werent going to get him but I still had faith that we had a shot... that faith is now pretty much diminished....

I read that story to. Im confused here about our front office. We won't be aggressive players when it comes to getting players we need such as mawae, ashworth, milloy, hope etc but when it comes to getting dime/ nickel backs hill / goodman and special teams players hodge / campbell we cant do no wrong. Im confused why are we signing those guys when we need starters more then reserves or depth ?

good.......The Pats got boatloads of cap space and they want nothing to do with him. Belichick doesn't want him, why should we take him?

We already signed a T. Ashworth would have been a luxury, but the money is better spent on a S/CB or LB like Arrington or Peterson.

I rather sign either Peterson or Arrington but i have a gut feeling we will get neither. Im hopefull like the rest of you guys but im not sure we have the money to get either. I personally would love to get peterson since he played in nick scheme back at msu.

Dude, we have been one of the most aggressive teams in FA. We can't sign everyone.

i beg to differ. If this team is so aggressive then why is it that all they have to show for themself is a few reserve players in goodman/hill/hodge and proble soon campbell. Shelton is ok and well culpepper was the highlight. I know this team doesnt have much money but you think we could maybe of got hope in here or perhaps ashworth.

exactly.

Ashworth would just give us depth at the LT, and RT spot. If we don't get him we didn't lose much. He was a backup in N.E. Although he'd be nice to have for depth.

Within the next few days there is a very good chance that LaVar or Peterson will be signed. If getting Shelton, Culpepper and possibly Arrington/Peterson isn't aggressive, then I don't know what is.

Well, Trey Teague is still on our list. Granted he is a center but he can fit in nicely though. Since Seth is on his tour of other teams.

I not a huge fan of shelton , im not sure any one. All he is here to day is fill Mcintosh spot. He is ok i guess. Im praying for us to get petersonb, he is a tackling machine and would look great in a phins uniform

perhaps OL will be the target of our first round pick, so he doesnt feel the need to sign Ashworth... with Saban, there is a method to his signings.

umm, maybe its because we do need depth. And whats with everyones obsession with Milloy? He sucks out loud. You do realize that two of three players you are whining about Miami not signing are way past there prime, and as for the other, maybe Saban isn't as interested in Ashworth as some of you are. Or is it possible that Ashworth or his agent are asking for too much money?
