I doubt that this is a surprise to anyone, but I just heard on ESPN (Chris Mortensen) that the Chargers will begin negotiations to sign Brees to an extension after this season. I know that there were many people here that really wanted Brees, but we all knew there was little to no chance. Well we wouldn't be here had we not drafted shut down corner Jamar Fletcher.

I'll bet with Wanny, Brees would have sucked and we would have dumped him before he got good.

haha, jamar fletcher...well this puts the chargers in a sticky situation, they can't have a big chunk of their cap being used by two Qbs, they're going to have to get rid of one of the two.

Actually they are in a sweet situation since they got so much in the manning deal. They will continue to reap the rewards of this trade. For the first overall pick they switched positions only 3 spots. They got a 3rd rounder that year a fifth and a first the next year. So if San Diego gets a fairly high first maybe 10-15 or lower and another day one pick for him they could possibly get 2 1sts 2 3rds and a fifth for thier one first pick, they might even get more. Not to mention the Vick trade which netted them Tomlinson and Brees thry got a first second and third round pick just to move down 4 spots and get the best Rb in the game. Thier front office seems to have done some nice trades.

Yeah now i order them to give us Phillip Rivers.

Yeah...our front office finally got their heads out of their butt by having Bobby Beathard gone..and I know this might upset some of you..but Butler (RIP) and Smith, literally are/were one of the 2 best GM's in the league (both from Bills).

I tend to agree on your major moves and you went from the worst Gm to a new level.

Personally Id rather have Brees than Rivers...Rather have a guy whos a proven starter than someone who held a clipboard for 2 yrs...Plus we already have Lemon from them who Ive been hearing outplayed Rivers in training camp..I really dont put too much stock in qb's drafted that high anyways. Then you have to figue if he would really fit the fins system.Ive seen Rivers play and I'm not that impressed...Thats just like when everybody thought Alex Smith could be our saviour.I know hes a rookie but he hasnt shown anything at all.San Diego is blessed to have both of them cause either way thay win with that situation.

Guys I will be dumb guy to say this but I actually think there is still a chance that the bolts go with Rivers. If they dont make the playoffs I actully think there is a chance they just let Brees walk... Slim chance I know but I dont think this is a done deal quite yet.

Then that would be good for us if we could get him...Only thing is they see what they have in Rivers and theres a reason hes not starting now.

If Cutler is gone by the time we pick and it seems he has the most momentum of any college player out there right now, we have to trade for either Rivers or McCown. It seems right now, that we killed any chance of drafting our QB of the future by winning our last 4 so I think we have to go the trade route

There seems to be some real friction in SD between the GM and Marty. The rumor I have read is that the GM thinks that Rivers is the future but Marty wants to stick with Brees. There dosnt seem to be very good comunication between the front office and the coaches as was demonstrated when we traded for Cleo, Marty was very upset about it and didnt even find out about the trade untill after it was over.
I just find it a very intresting situation......

I think Cutler's gonne be there at 15 for us if Nick really wants him....I know he's moved up but I don't think he'll move as high as Rivers did.

Ozzy rules!!

If we somehow get Cutler we're in great shape for the future of this franchise. If not we should look at Pinnegar or Gradkowski in the later rounds
