People keep forgetting that Tannehill has only 9 inch hands. The smallest of any QB at the combine. That is a huge concern if he plays any games in wet or cold weather. Small hands like that is a detriment when trying to grip the ball.

If we have run out of all the other options I'll be ok with it but I dont think he is very good

Can't throw the deep ball well and I never trust big 12 qbs

Well I guess that knocks RGIII, Tannehill and Weeden out for you. That pretty much leaves Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson.

I like Tannehill over Flynn. Higher Ceiling.

If we take Tannehill at #8, we have got only ourselves to blame. Throw that kid into the starting job in the NFL next year and we are screwed. I just don't understand the hype about him, I watched him a few times last year and each and everytime I left scratching my head as to why people considered him a prospect that could go in the first couple of rounds. Now people talking about a top 10 pick ? Defies all logic to me.

When Manning eventually turns us down, then I would rather we take a flyer on Weeden in round 2, if he's not there when we pick then another year of Moore it is, we are not going to be competitive but perhaps we can put ourselves into a position to draft Barkley next year.

Drafting a QB at #8 doesn't mean we have to throw him into the starting job next year. Of the 10 QBs drafted in the Top 10 since 2006, only five started the season as the #1 QB. The only QB outside of the Top Five that started the year as the #1 QB was Baltimore's Joe Flacco and that was only because the top two QBs was unavailable to play.

Oh yes you do. Look at Jacksonville last year. They put themselves in a position to have to play their top 10 pick when he clearly wasn't ready. It's too much pressure on this kid, he's not ready and probably won't be ready for 2-3 years at the earliest. Gabbert was considered a more NFL ready prospect than Tannehill !!

Jacksonville was put in that position because Jack Del Rio was trying to make lightening strike twice after he released Garrard just before the start of the season and naming Luke McNown the starter. Gabbert didn't get many (if any) reps with the first team prior to Garrard's release and then had to learn on the fly.

If we draft Tannehill, he won't have to start the season as the #1 QB unless we release Matt Moore. He can sit and learn either until he's ready or until Moore proves not to be the answer.

sheeesh we complain about not drafting a qb in the first round since marino. and who says tannehill will pan out, but tannehill will be a first round qb this year. either we want a first round qb so we can quit complaining or we dont. if we were to draft weeden in round 2 and he didnt pan out we'd just be bitching about our history of wasting #2's on qb's. ive made it clear in a quite a few posts that im content with moore this year and taking GA's qb next year. my second choice would be flynn, then tanny as third. but if we're gonna spend a #1 on tanny at least noone can say that we havent TRIED to get our franchise qb

Except Tannehill comes from a pro style offense run by our current OC.

It is what it is. Glad they identified a pick and did it. Hindsight is 20/20 but at least they took their shot
