The guy who was our interim coach when Sparano got fired. Remember him? Now he's the defensive coordinator for AZ, whose D has been very impressive this year. Is he better than Coyle? I don't know. The fact that Miami jettisoned him like trash without really self-scouting and determining merit in a logical process is yet another sickening addition to our recent, toxic legacy.
His dismissal was an afterthought in the knee-jerk firing of Sparano.

Miami fires more talent than they hire. Idiot city.

Coyle hasn't been bad though. His biggest problems have been injuries to his players and Wheeler sucking.

New coach wants his own staff. It's standard practice. It's true he wasn't retained but he was not "jettisoned like trash" and your use of that language is neither accurate nor productive in terms of the conversation about which coach is better.

My wish list for the Off-Season ... Lovie Smith for Head Coach and Todd Bowles coming back to be Defensive Coordinator. I can dream can't I ?

What toxic legacy? Sporrano was toxic. We want touchdowns now, and we have more or less tried for touchdowns in places where Sporrano wouldn't. In addition, if you are talking about the off the field issues, well you are talking to the wrong guy. We went 3-0, and nearly could be 7-1. Saints is the only game we deserved to lose. Every other game, our own mistakes hurt us to lose the game.

We lost games because our 'chains' kept breaking at their weakest links. Clabo, Martin and Tannehill crumbled like a Saltine under a soup bowl. We've 'earned' all 4 of our losses. I would've liked to have seen how our game vs NE would've turned out had the officiating hasn't been so horrid, even if you just reversed that batted ball call that led to NE's game-sealing TD. But we probably would've screwed up something else along the way. That game was over the moment of the sack-fumble.

We beat Cincy cuz we finally played a Smart football game. No mental mistakes and sound play-calling for a change. We Deserved to win the games we won and deserved to lose.....

But there's no 'we should be...".

If we play sound football tomorrow night; keep our poise, we'll win and move to 5-4.

If we play stupid, panicked or distracted, Tampa will get in the win column.

I actually think that Coyle has done a good job developing the DBs. We are making more interceptions this season than I can ever recall. I don't think that this is just luck. Patterson and Grimes are good. The biggest need for improvement is in the linebackers, where Philip Wheeler has not covered as well as hoped. However, overall we have a pretty competitive Defense. I would not be rushing to turf Coyle out.

Coyle hasn't impressed me one damn bit. His inability to make second half adjustments is mind boggling.

Bowles inherited a really good d with az. Let's not act like he is coaching some bums. Miamis d has been very good. They have been put in some bad spots as well. Coyle also came in and changed our scheme. Bowles was able to stay with the same scheme. We our producing a lot more turnovers than we ever did with Nolan. That's for sure.

Bowles is a dam good coach. The team played hard for him. If Coyle is canned, Bowles should be considered for DC or assistant head coach.

Bowles was interim head coach, I don't think the NFL permits a head coach to be demoted on the same team. He had to remain coach or move on. I could be wrong though.

Hasn't impressed me either. Our offensive line struggling and issues with Sherman's play calling are more upsetting. Defense has been good, but on the field too much.

Even though I brought it up, I do have to struggle to blame our defensive struggles (when we've struggled) on Coyle when our lack of depth has really killed us when Wake was hurt and just hurting, as well as our starting CB missing all but 3 games this year. Every shortcoming I've seen seems to be more Ireland failures rearing their ugly head. We coulda had another premium defensive end for a pretty good price this offseason, but we passed on FA and just drafted an injured player who seldom gets on the filed, unless it's picking on Jon Martin in practice. Then, we got Grimes, which is nice, but we really could've afforded another quality defensive back, IMO. They were there to be had and they really weren't that expensive, IMO. Instead (again), we drafted an injured player who can't get on the field now (Taylor). I still can't believe Cincy just didn't crush us when both Patterson and Carroll were out hurt in that game. Coyle should actually gets some props there for somehow fooling Dalton into not exploiting the crap out of our extremely shorthanded secondary. I bet their OC smashed his head against the wall when he watched the film of that 2nd half. RJ Stanford? How did that happen?

I don't think so? Because why else would Jack Del Rio be made the interim head coach of the Broncos?

Also how pissed do you think Nolan was that Bowles was made the coach over him?
