It didn’t take long for Mike Pouncey to find a new landing spot after the Dolphins released him last week. On Monday, the three-time Pro Bowler made his new destination official, signing a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.

And now, it turns out one of Pouncey’s primary reasons for signing with the Chargers had to do with the guy he will be snapping passes to: seven-time Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers.

“No disrespect to any of the guys in Miami. I enjoyed my career there for seven years with the Miami Dolphins, but to be able to play with an elite guy like [Rivers] and a Hall-of-Fame quarterback is something I always dreamed of in my life,” Pouncey said in an article on the Chargers’ website. “I can’t wait. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to get to work with him.”

I’m think I’m more shocked that a Pouncey is just ready to play...in general.

That "elite" QB better hope his team has a good backup plan at center.

Reminds me of when Brandon Marshall made a similar statement at Pro Bowl which kind of back stabbed Henne. In that case he wasn't wrong. But you never want to say something like that that can be construed in a bad light for any of your old teammates. Pouncey doesn't appear to be very bright to me. Don't burn those bridges. You may have to play with someone you slighted in the future.

Ehh. I'm of the opinion that Rivers has been the best player on some very mediocre Charger offenses that past 6-7 years. I hope it works out for them both, as long as it isn't against the Fins...but I think Rivers started falling off a bit the last couple years.

Low class individual through and through.

Addition by subtraction. He's not qualified to lead an OL.

Pouncey will be watching that "elite QB" from the sidelines with those grandpa hips.

According to an article I read, Pouncey referred to Rivers as a Hall of Famer. Barring some unforeseen and amazing last act of his career, Rivers should not get into the Hall of Fame— but I guess that’s what happens when you unbablance the game to favor passing above all.

If Rivers gets into the Hall, then just open wide the doors because all-time greatness would no longer be required for admission.

Every other year River's int ratio is up. 2018 Philip's other year.18 / 13 / 21 / 10 / ?
