There are several former Miami Dolphins players appearing in this weekend's Super Bowl.
-
former Dolphins quota is filled by defensive tackle Tony McDaniel.
-
Former Miami practice squad player Rob Ninkovich,
-
Running back Jonas Gray began his NFL career with the Dolphins after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in 2012.
-Former Florida A&M Rattlers wide receiver Brian Tyms was signed initially by the San Francisco 49ers after going undrafted in 2012.
-Even on the New England practice squad former Dolphins can be found. Offensive lineman Chris Barker.

The fact of the matter is Miami could have used each and everyone of the last year with the kind of season we had. i mean Tony was a good run stuffer, Tyms would have been the the tallest WR in the mist, Jonas Gray would have been the beast bruiser we don't have and m pretty sure you'll all agree Chris Barker is better than Dallas Thomass. Miami f..king Dolphins, we sure know how to cut em.

Nothing we can do about it. I mean we could have drafted Bress or Rodgers......Gronkoski, Graham.....we would drive ourselves crazy thinking about it but it wouldn't change anything.

Also, think about those people that smoke....they could have saved tons of cash over the years but they'd have probably spend it on something else

Well... 126 players are on the squads of the super bowl contenders if you are including the practice squads. There are 30 other teams in the league, which goes into 126 just over 4 times. Considering the majority of most NFL players have not been with the same team their entire career, I don't really feel like we're that much over the average.

Dumb article.

Tony McDaniel was a non-scheme fit for the Dolphins, a true 3-4 DE played 4-3 DT for us and sucked.

Ninkovich bounced around between the Fins and Saints, and took 5 years to develop into a true pro. So don't feel about losing him.

The rest are PS guys that no one really cares about and have zero impact in games. Jonas had one monster game and has since vanished.

How many practice squad players did other teams get from other teams?

you could say this about almost every team in the league...it may suck to think about it, but again, every team has this happen to them every year in some capacity

Especially the Patriots who are chalk full of free agents and traded players on that roster. Brandon LaFell, Tim Wright, Danny Amendola, Michael Hoomanawanui (two former Rams right there), LeGarrette Blount, Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner in addition to the ones mentioned. Brandon Browner was on Seattle last year so I guess there's nothing to lament there.

How does the Patsies always seem to put it together, every year?

Ninkovich is a curious case. He really was a late bloomer and is a heck of a player.

Dolphins cut Rob Ninkovich because they told him they were, "looking for another Larry Izzo,'' he once told me
