I did a thread like this a few years back that turned out good.
if you could pick one former dolphin from each side of the ball to add to the team who are they? explain why they are the best fit with our current roster

Olivier Vernon and Lamar Miller. Both are Miami boys, in their prime and their addition to the current roster would be good.
These "if only we had…" questions don't seem to achieve much.

Defense I would take Sean Smith. Him and Maxwell give us great length for a zone coverage. Offense it might be a little early but Lamar Miller. Him and Ajayi could have been a great 1-2 punch for years to come. Maybe Brandon Marshall just to take him away from the Jets

Davis and Marshall. Just because we gave up on them too early and did not get enough in return

Davis and Marshall.. Used a 1 on Davis and got a 2 back. Used 2 twos on Marshall and got 2 threes back. Philbin and Ireland struck out on these trades

Marino and Zach Thomas, although both would only be slight upgrades to what we have, due to their age.

The Brandon Marshall trade symbolized the Joe Philbin era.

I didnt know we were trying to achieve things on the message board... I Always thought we were killing time till the season.. Sorry lets go back to complaining about Maxwell and its the Guards not Tannehill debate

I'm gonna assume you meant all time Dolphins.

In which case I'd take Dan Marino on offense. Not a hard decision there. And if I couldn't take Dan I'd take Bob Griese.

On defense it's tougher. My thoughts go immediately to Bill Stanfill, probably the best pass rusher in Dolphins history. You'd also have to consider Jason Taylor and AJ Duhe (a versatile player who was ahead of his time) if you want to go the pass rusher route. A more conservative choice that would fit our current roster better might be Nick Buoniconti. I realize Zach Thomas is a fan favorite and fresher in our memories but Buoniconti will go down as the superior player so he's the one I'd want. Also I'd consider Tim Bowens, especially the younger, more athletic Bowens. It's hard to imagine any interior line group blocking Suh and Bowens.
