Damn , so young what a shame. RIP Damion.

Damion Cook, an undrafted offensive lineman who went on to play in parts of seven NFL seasons, died Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 36.

Cook, a Nashville native, appeared in 26 NFL games at guard and made 10 starts from 2001-09 after a college career at Bethune-Cookman, which confirmed his death Friday via Twitter.

Cook signed with the Ravens out of college and spent the 2001 season with the Bears. After joining the Dolphins during the 2002 offseason, he returned to Baltimore. In 2004, he joined the Browns and started four games.

After another stint with the Dolphins, Cook joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL and the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena League before capping his career with the NFL's Lions in 2008-09.

NFL fans may remember Cook for the impression of Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis captured by HBO's Hard Knocks during training camp.

36 years old??? Unreal. Prayers go out to his family. Things like this really make you think sometimes, especially in a case like this one, where the person was a year younger than me.

Had my Myocardial infarction last month with 5 days in intensive care also found out I have Type 2 Diabetes
Just started receiving my medical bills"with no insurance" Over $50,000 and it's just the beginning...but I'm alive

I hope you make a good recovery and get your diabetes under control.

Guys, no lie...I was in the hospital last week because I was diagnosed with Afib. My heart was racing like crazy and I was dizzy. It was scary as hell. They kept me 3 nights and actually did an angiogram on me.

I'm 31.

It was a giant wake up call and I'm devoted to lose some lbs and get a healthy lifestyle. We gotta take care of our hearts guys. Especially us bigger folk who love beers!

That's scary, DD. It's so easy for us to put our health on the back burner, especially when life gets really hectic and busy. I hope you never experience that again.

My dad has type 2 diabetes and is 83. A decent diet and exercise might even make it go away. You can do it, Ron!

I remember when Damion was here. His family must be in shock. My prayers are with them and may he rest in peace.

Take care of yourself Rustin.

You said it. I have a great job, but I travel all the time. Gotta fit in time for that exercise now. It's a must.

I will man. Thank god that angio showed no blockage. I'm gonna have a totally different lifestyle now, but still have fun. For instance, it's my wife and my 1st wedding anniversary this weekend! Dinner and drinks. But back to health and working out Monday.

Hey man, I'm sorry that happened, but I'm glad to hear you have a good perspective on the situation. Please don't "diet." Diets, as we know them, exist to make money - not to make people healthy. Be selective of what you eat, eat slowly, and don't eat beyond the point at which you are full. Also, keep the beers in the range of 1-3 per day (not 1-3 bombers lol). These relatively easy steps have kept me with a low body fat % despite the fact that I very rarely exercise (something I need to work on). Don't mean to impose here. These are just practical steps that I've seen work for myself and some of my friends.

I am in the same boat guys. No heart trouble yet but I'm 5'9 and 265 with type 2 diabetes and cholesterol off the charts and a stress level that could kill a donkey. We have all got to take care ourselves because dying young or living with major self-inflicted disease is no good at all.

Maybe we should do a health challenge between now and the Super Bowl. Get our butts healthy and give each other **** for cheating too much. Any interest?

Ron, let me know if you run into too much trouble with the medical bills. I can give you some pointers on negotiating the bill down.

Just as a suggestion. Check with your doctor about diet changes and get your wife on board. Eat only YOUR food. No restaurants.
Eat 5 small meals a day, and be finished eating by 5pm. Buy small portion containers with 2 wells.
Only lean meat, nuts and veggies. Chicken/broccoli, Fish/Carrots, etc. No carbs/sugars until weight under control.
Work out early in the morning to get your metabolism going early.
Light cardio combined with moderate weight training on large muscles like legs and abs. Go easy at first. It is easy to over do it.
I am not an expert, but it is working for me.
I went from 6'5" 350 to 310 in a 2.5 months. My goal is 255-265 which was my playing weight back in the day.
Technically, I would still be over weight, but that is the right weight for me.
